How is it not being properly dealt with?

Dealt with as in spreading is clearly trending down (its not), deaths are trending down (they arent) or at the very least with an advanced test trace and quarantine system (doesnt exist).

No one is completely ignoring covid. stop being so dramatic.

We are now in the acceleration phase of the pandemic, yet the WH is shutting down the covid task force at the end of May, southern states are opening up too fast, and people (mainly rednecks) are flat out refusing to wear masks.

So does the flu and a variety of other illnesses.

Of course other things do, but not to this extent.

quote:

no they don't, at least not those known to have a correlation to causing complication for virus like COVID-19, the flu, etc. About 40% have some sort of chronic health condition, but that could be anything from diabetes to arthritis

40% = "nearly half". Even if its not nearly half, its still a very high number of susceptible people. The south especially isnt known for its healthy population.

So you're saying you constantly bring up politics and the president in these discussions because you are incapable of just talking about the issue itself?

I am saying you use a common deflection tactic. In particular, you whine about people being political rather than discuss the topic even when people are discussing government rather than politics.

I would say it's civics and politics that are different, but you aren't talking about civics.

You struggle to differentiate between government and politics. This statement is even more proof of that, and you still avoided the 1st question.

They tend to happen every 10 years or so, so the timing was right for one.

You're full of shite. I discuss the topic in deeper detail than most and don't talk about politics while doing it.

Your question isn't valid because I'm not arguing for a president. You're trying to get me to accept the premise that I am doing something I am not.

Just go to the fricking politics board if you want to talk about politics. You have an entire forum for people who want to talk about it.

There was nothing fundamentally wrong with the economy other than the markets were getting a bit frothy.

Yet here you are ITT whining about "politics" because someone is saying the president hasnt done a good job. Dont try to act like this is the first time you have done it.

quote:

Your question isn't valid because I'm not arguing for a president.

Criticizing a person for doing a bad job isnt always political in nature, and it isnt now. That applies to any job, be it your boss, a football coach, a mayor.

The premise is You are arguing that any criticism towards the current president is unwarranted just because "politics". Do you feel that way about all presidents, or just republican ones, or just this one?

I’ll chime in randomly here: the US will never be able to effectively contain infectious disease by population control measures and shutting down businesses. We don’t have a strong enough safety net, and we’re highly leveraged and totally dependent on ongoing revenue to meet debt obligations, whether you’re a small business or a doofus with a 30k/year job and a $50k truck. It’s a house of cards, and it collapses easily. We will reopen, and many people will die because of it. I wish it wasn’t that way, and I am not advocating for it. But this is America, and this is how it’s going to be.

First, I think we all have to acknowledge that we are all biased by what target marketed corporate driven news source we watch. They are compromised for the almighty dollar. Do you watch Fox or CNN? Do you watch both at least? Do you do the Intricate research that is necessary to truly debate? Most of us don’t do that research so we have to be able to talk to each other to find where can learn from each other. Echo chambers do nothing for us. You have to respect each other truly and deeply. We are all Americans and diversity of thought right and left are where we learn and expand our knowledge and our way of conceptualizing ideas. One side is not all knowing. There are some unifiers in this also. China and getting our back end supply chains back on prim should be universal for both. Wearing masks should be universal. Satisfies both health concerns and allows us to do business that satisfies economic concerns. This bipartisan bullshite will be our downfall if we don’t respect each other and keep the emotion out of our discussion so we can truly learn from each other. Hell I want to know where I am wrong when I debate. I want you to change my mind or me change yours if we can truly talk and it means I grow as a thinker. I respect my fellow American no matter their political affiliation and am genuinely curious to why their views differ from mine.

The problem is twofold

1. Some, maybe many, smaller schools will NOT field fball teams in 2020. The universities cannot afford to subsidize a losing proposition in a year when universities are going to be bigtime cash-strapped. That will leave many holes in Power Five teams' schedules.

2. I think we will have college football. I think it is less than 50-50 that any fans will be in the stands save some students and families of players.

No one believes the totals being reported. When you have videos of doctors and coroners saying they have been pressured to list deaths as being caused by the Chinese Flu that destroys all credibility that this was a legit “pandemic”.

There’s a massive difference between someone dying with Covid-19 and someone dying from Covid-19. Hell, we had an entire state just dump thousands of deaths into the Chinese Flu totals because they “felt” like they belonged in that category.

If it wasn’t an election year I would say yes. But with it being an election year, and democrats wanting to allow three days to vote and / or mail in voting for everyone, they will hold the line to stretch out the lockdown as long as possible. The football season not starting and universities not having classes would help with the optics of needing to stay home and vote by mail.
It won’t start on time unless the democrats poll numbers start to be drastically negatively effected by the continued lockdown.
