Do you watch Fox or CNN? Do you watch both at least?
I would never turn either of them on my TV.
Your second paragraph should have said, have you thought about turning them both off because they are full of shite and neither really tell the truth?

You actually take these CDC numbers as gospel? I have a few real estate deals I'd like to get you to invest in...
Just as accurate as flu numbers, if not moreso.. Some cases are missed, some aren't. Some will argue we are undercounting, some will say over counting. I will stay in the middle away from the left wing nuts, which we dont see on this board, and right wing nuts, which infest this board.

So let me demonstrate what I preach. You’re not wrong. I realize exactly why you say turn them off and I agree. They pitch their target marketed message to their target market of viewers.
But you also do not offer another avenue for news. Just curious where do you suggest I go to check out what’s going on that is better and less biased. I genuinely want to know. This is an opportunity for you to help a fellow American who wants to know where I can improve.

99% of what they put on there isn't worth the attention to start with.
There is an entire internet out there for the other 1%.
But it doesn't really matter how many sources exist, a bad source is a bad source.
For example when it comes to the coronavirus. My sources include random articles I come across about it. Either in my news feeds, or most commonly from talking and reading on forums like this and other people post links. Then I read medical studies and I read doctors who talk to each other on other forums. Look for the facts, remove the opinions.
I watch the numbers and look at things for myself. I knew the mortality rate for the virus was much lower than being reported 2 months ago, and I posted it here. I knew it because I looked at the graphs and math, and I understood - they are only counting confirmed cases, not all the people who get it, but don't get tested. So then I went and searched for information regarding infection rates and found a real number for myself.
I would also occasionally find articles that talked about the real rate. Especially when it came to why Germany at the time was so much different than other places. Why was their rate so much lower? Because they tested way more people, so their confirmed cases was much closer to the infection rate.
When I posted it here, I was called an idiot and often told "You think you know better than the experts". All because some people only listen to those news sources and accept what they say as fact. I showed the math, I showed the logic, didn't matter.
So even if there were no alternatives it's no excuse to keep watching bad sources.
If you will eat it - someone will feed it to you. Feed yourself.

Trump threw that 2.2 million number out there to make himself look like a genius when it inevitably was far less. The model his administration used was created by a cabinet level economist and it predicted 60k deaths with most deaths ending by May 15th. It was way off which was why he continually minimized it. The only ones bringing up these ridiculous forecasts are Trump and his supporters who use it to minimize the nearly 80k Americans who have died and the virus itself.

They have a very high mortality rate for their population and compared to their neighbors who initiated protocols but I am sure you already knew that: Sweden’s death rate per 1 million is 314; Finland’s is 47; Norway’s is 40

Seasonal flu numbers, as in actual positive flu tests associated with death number between 5-15k annually, the rest are estimated by death count spikes. The actual number of deaths associated with Covid 19, meaning an actual positive associated with death is approaching 80k. The flat Earthers love to use seasonal flu as the metric but don’t realize those are estimates not actual hard data

Let me demonstrate what Burnside preached as well.
I totally understand your distrust of both wings of our distorted media. There is spin in everything now. It’s really unfortunate. However, I think it is a mistake to abandon the task of developing and maintaining reliable information systems and leaving it entirely to social media, user-generated content on the net, and typically indecipherable publications from specialists. That open source system is so easily manipulated, and disinformation and angry half-truths get enormous traction. I think we need to improve the media, not burn it down.
I still read newspapers and general interest publications, and I am able to discern fact from opinion. And I also happen to have heard your point about the fatality rate ultimately proving to be very low due to the untested infections very early in the pandemic. It was stated on TV, printed on paper, and repeated several times. It wasn’t stressed the way it should have been because fear sells. And that sucks. But if you listened closely and separated wheat from chaff, it was there.
Traditional media sucks in a lot of ways, but the free-for-all of the net is no substitute if you want to be informed.

There is no grand, ill conceived conspiracy to take down President Trump involving nearly every major nation on the Earth. There is a virus. It has killed nearly 80k Americans and it has no known treatment yet other than keeping away from others as much as possible. Those are the facts, the other nonsense about government conspiracies and fake deaths is silly.
