I've studied this subject in Texas for 30 years and always wondered why the schools that are perennial state championship contenders are not the most highly recruited. The bottom line is that colleges are looking for the best athletic talent no matter how raw. The schools with the best coaches and player development are often overlooked at the next level. I guess they figure those guys are as good as they're ever going to be, whereas there are diamonds in the rough in so many other programs that are not as well coached. Don't get me wrong in that the state championship teams have the occasional highly recruited skill player here and there but the majority of D1 recruits come from the largest schools, not the best. It's just a numbers game.

Rome,
Actually Rome used to be West Rome and East Rome, then they combined them. west Rome was one of the first schools to win 4 straight state championships in a row and I think East Rome followed that up with 3 or 4 in a row.
I actually played a for West Rome for a bit when Nick Hyder was the coach there before he took the Valdosta job and went on to become the youngest coach to win 300 games. (Not sure if he still holds that record) Just before he left West Rome
my family moved and i finished up at another school.
While in school I played against East Rome and they had Larry Kinnebrew and Ray Donaldson....both played in the NFL. Even with two future NFL stars they finished their season at 6-4.

Did you know a guy who went to school and played O-Line for the Cardinals back in the early 90s that went by the nickname "Cheese"? He graduated from Webb City in 1992.

Alabama
Thompson
St Pauls
Opelika
Auburn
Saraland
Mt Brook
Central
Spanish Fort
Gulf Shores will join this list pretty soon. Back in the 70's-80's the Montgomery area was the place to be, before that Birmningham. The Mobile-Baldwin county areas have exploded in the last 20 years. Particularly Baldwin here lately but Thompson is sending about 3-5 guys to P-5 schools every season now and have replaced Hoover as the state benchmark program.
Thompson just won its 4th straight state tile with an 8th grader playing QB.

Most D1 talent comes from St Louis and KC metro
I know the OP criteria was "in your state" but even though just across the river in Illinois, East St. Louis High School deserves mention as it is considered in the St. Louis Metro area. It's the 20th-winningest program in the country per a link provided by a previous poster. Mizzou recruits it heavily!

Montgomery STILL puts out a ton of talent. They might not have any of the top overall programs to win a state championship, but the individual talent that comes out of there is very high. Bama has made a living recruiting GW Carver and Jeff Davis. Sidney Lanier and Lee also produce.
The top ten list of schools that have put players in the league from the state of Alabama, these 4 alone make up the top ten.
Don’t forget Prattville, Pike Road and other surrounding schools.

In Louisiana, Zachary seems to be one as of late.
Louisiana has this asinine and ridiculous format in the State Playoffs where the schools are separated into "Select" (Private) and "Non-Select" (Public), instead of the normal same format where everybody plays everybody and the best wins.

Also Noxubee County in Mississippi. They have won quite a few state titles in the last jobs 20 years.

Cole=Colby=Cheese. Not sure though I didn’t know him. I asked a buddy that graduated in 92 and he said it was him.
Buddy said they are in a group text together.
Another friend said he thinks his dad may have gone to Mizzou. His dad was highly thought of. He did a lot in the community. If it was the same guy

You’re right Life, I’m pulling these from memory and I’m no spring chicken.
I just remembered there were a lot of Rome championship squads.
