Why are people sleeping on Mizzou? They are the kind of team that can go far in the postseason.
They just haven't seemed to have a game where they played up to their potential in a while and even though they have played ok it seems like every game is a dogfight for them.
Everyone will be looking for a team that has caught fire in the last week or two. Some teams will get hot in the conference tournaments this week and people will jump on them.

Alabama. I expect LSU to be out in the first or second round,

Florida can show flashes (beating WV) but then look like shite at times (losing to SC).
I'd take Bama. Their D is also very good too.

You know what you’re getting from Tennessee in the first 5-7 minutes of a game most nights. If they are knocking down shots and locked in defensively they are one of the 8-10 best teams in the country (game @ Mizzou, vs. Kansas, vs. App State are examples of this).
If they aren’t making shots but remain locked in defensively (like they did against Florida Sunday, early in season vs. Colorado, and most other games in the first month of the season) they can still win a couple games in the tournament.
If they let bad offense impact their defensive effort like they did for most of SEC play they could get blown out in the first round.

Tide or Hogs. D will help carry us until the offense hots up again (I hope)
Baylor seems the best bet to hoist the trophy.

Before seeing the bracket and the matchups, it seems fairly obvious to pick the two best teams: Alabama and Arkansas.

Tennessee is the only SEC team making it past the Sweet Sixteen.

There are some talented underachieving teams out there that are going to surprise people. It is hard for coaches to get the most out of players these days as college basketball continues to become more like the NBA and coaches can't get much effort out of their players during the reg season. They will all turn it up a notch in the tourney.

Sure why not

Hate to do it, but I gotta disagree. I think we lose in the 32.

I'd have to go Arkansas or LSU. Thoughts?
Arkansas or Bama. LSU under the Pear has been notoriously terrible in the month of March. Florida is just very inconsistent, and Tennessee doesn't appear to be the same team they were earlier in the year.
I think we only have 2 teams that will make it to the Sweet 16.
If Bama gets hot shooting, they can beat anyone and win the whole thing. If they play like they've played the last 10 games (with the exception of the 115 point game they had against my UGA team), they'll lose in the Sweet 16. The difference between Bama in the first half of SEC play compared to the last half of SEC play has been noticeably down.... still very solid, but not championship calibur.
Arkansas appears to be peaking at the right time. If it continues, they can make it to the Elite 8.

I wont root against them, I hope they go far (as I hope we all do).
I really hope LSU gets hot now

Agreed, and I guess picking a darkhorse I think UT could make a run. I like their D also, top 20 in defensive efficiency I believe and I'll be interested to see how Springer and Johnson play. And Coach Barnes has a ton of postseason experience (jmho).

Bama is getting healthy and that will help them a lot. They might actually be well served to get vaguely early exit from the SEC tourney to rest people up.
Arkansas is the hottest team in the country right now. I worry that we don't have a dominant presence, or at least a good neutralizer, in the paint. Twigs will block some shots but any athletic big man will post him easy.
That having been said... yes, any of the SEC teams expected to make the Big Dance could go deep, particularly if the draw is kind to them. There is some real talent in the league this year. The problem is consistency, teams have been hot and cold throughout the season.

I think second round would be my expectation as well. If you told me they lost in the first round or made the Sweet 16 I would not be shocked at all but second round is my expectation.
Arkansas’s performance against A&M was concerning but when you consider entire body of work with recent play I think they have to be considered the most dangerous team in the league.
I actually have a +250 ticket from early February on Bama NOT to make the Sweet 16 on my site. $250 max bet but I think there’s some value. Have non Sweet 16 tickets on Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State and West Virginia as well. Not feeling so great about Illinois and Iowa bets.

Bullet to my head I have to pick Arkansas. Great defense and offense, plus Musselman is a damn genius. I'd go with Bama if they didn't rely on the 3 ball as much. However I think both teams have a great chance at making the final 4 and it wouldn't surprise me to see one of them in the finals. Arky and Bama are matchup nightmares for slow B1G teams.

Tennessee is actually top 5 in defensive efficiency but much of that is from December when the defense was the best in the country. Sunday’s game against Florida was the first time we’ve seen that level of defense in over a month. Team is too inconsistent to expect much from. Very unlikeable group as well. Hope the team gets hot and makes a run but getting the roster flipped and playing a full season next year is really what I’m looking forward to. This team goes through the motions for weeks at a time with zero signs of life.

Iowa has been better on the defensive end but I still think of all the currently projected 1 or 2 seeds, they are the most likely not to make it.
