Pretty crazy how Alabama can support two of the Big 6 SEC schools.

Well you do have two states, GA and FL that you share a border with and those 2 states are in the top 5 in producing NFL type talent. I think it is FL, TX, CA, GA, OH and LA and AL battle for 6 and 7, but with your population being a little higher by 200K and HS football coaching in Alabama getting better, you all may have beaten LA by a few.

Hmm... This is a good point.

Never been a fan of beaches, LA for me in terms of Food, music and culture, unique architecture, distances every state in the South.

Now if you are a beach person, then States with beaches are not something that LA can challenge. If you like Mountains, then its North GA, NC and TENN, etc. Again, depends of what you like.

Well I think Louisiana is better than both MS and AL but the beach point raises AL above MS.

the answer is MS. It's got a ton of great people but it's mired in poverty and backwards thinking pols at a level other states, even in the South, have escaped.

You're not wrong.

BUT, 8 new Statewide Govt officials and this bit of good news
LINK

"Not anymore. New results on the National Assessment of Educational Progress, a standardized test given every two years to measure fourth- and eighth-grade achievement in reading and math, show that Mississippi made more progress than any other state."

I still say that if Arkansas and Louisiana would do the right thing and take part of the Delta then MS numbers would improve dramatically. As it is, we have to eat the whole turd sandwich by ourselves

Don’t you hold back all your dumb third graders though?

So are you better at educating or just better at weeding out bad testers?

2. Mississippi

That's just my idea, not part of the article

AR and LA should shoulder some of the burden that is the MS Delta. We would gladly give up the land

You can't hold them back forever. They are learning to read, one way or another

La has New Orleans, music, food, Mardi Gras, major sporting events and the country's best fishing.

Northern Alabama is geographically more pleasing.

You remove one major city from most SEC states and they are all about the same, really. Yeah, they landscape changes, but every one of us chock full of poor, undereducated residents of all shapes and colors, though round is a very popular shape across the board.

In general, I prefer living in MS to the other two, but I think every other state in the SEC's largest city is head and shoulders above Jackson. I remember while growing up, and you could at least say Jackson wasn't all that much worse than Little Rock or Birmingham. It's been at least a decade now since that was even debatable.

I noticed how nice it [Northern Alabama] was driving to the Ole Miss game last year.. it was late October/early November though so that helped.

Same here. On another note, what is the mentality of a person that comes to a football board and feels the necessity to start saying which state is better than which state. I mean I can form a lot of hypotheses about that type of person such as sexual inadequacies, the type of guy who could not get a date in a bordello, intellectual insecurity, Mother did not give them enough attention or maybe too much attention and they have a hard time adjusting to the real world, etc. Do you have any others besides the ones I listed you can add?

There’s a lot to love and hate about each state.
Alabama has a lot of dumbasses, and Birmingham traffic and Mobile Tunnel traffic are pains in the arse. However, Huntsville is one of the nicest small cities in the country, and coastal Alabama is just plain gorgeous with excellent beaches.

Mississippi doesn’t have a real major city, and Jackson is a complete dump. Biloxi has white sugar sand and mediocre casinos, but poop brown water. Despite all these things, coastal mississippi offers a great pace of living.

Louisiana has great food all over, but no nice beaches, crazy crime, and the most fun city in New Orleans. South Louisiana culture is a double-edged sword of fun and danger, kindness and lethargy, creativity and corruption.

Personally, I would say Mississippi is the worst due to lack of a major city, but others might tout that as the reason they’re the best.
