Yea he cried and and cried and finally got his wish. Bama would have won that 89 game if it was at Legion

Ticket split was 50/50. In 1988 they went to the home team getting the home allotment but auburns home game went to Auburn the next year. Auburn will tell you there were more Bama fans there and if so it’s because aubie fans sold them but both universities were given the same amount.

Why is a Tennessee fan trying to answer this question?
The ticket split was 50/50.

Wish Bama could stop playing auburn. But if they must play auburn, I'd move the game from the end of the season. It plays right into auburn's favor in many ways. But Bama admin doesn't have the balls to move the game to early season.

Sounds like an excuse for losing to me.

Heavy bama. The 50/50 split was for left over tickets. Because this was bama's second home, they had bondholders and other ticket allotments that swayed the amount of fans their way.

Was supposed to be but was always a strong bama lean.

There was probably some of that, but equal allotments to the schools does not mean 50% of all tickets went to Bama and 50% went to Auburn. There are always local/corporate allotments as well, and Bama fans far outnumber Auburn fans in Birmingham.

Bama played 3-4 home games per year at Legion and by the early to mid 70s Auburn only played the Iron Bowl. The city of Birmingham offered out about 20% of the tickets as a package deal where you got tickets to all games that Fall in Birmingham. Obviously this made sense for bama fans but few Auburn fans were going to pay for that package when the team just played one game per season.
For this reason it was an automatic 60-40 Bama crowd split.
Not just that, Bama had a major advantage of getting to play on the artificial turf several more games. The stadium cups all printed bama logos on them, etc.
The whole thing was just ridiculous... especially considering it's located in a ghetto shithole.

Not true. About 20% of the tickets were sold as a season package. The remaining 80% were split 50-50.
For the Alabama fans, this resulted in a 60-40 Bama advantage.

Was the split at the 50-yard lines or middle of the endzones?
