2009 Arkansas @ Florida

I was high up in the nosebleeds of the student section at that time, so from my vantage point didn't see a problem at the time, but afterwards we kept hearing about some controversy. After we saw the replays on youtube, yeah Arkansas got hosed.

I truly believe this SEC ref babying caused UF to ultimately lose the SEC Championship, and thus an easy title win over a patheticaly overhyped Colt McCoy Texas team.

If UF was allowed to lose the Arkansas game, it would have been a wake up call similar to 2008 vs Ole Miss DP, and Meyer could have turned the autopilot off on Addazio's retardedly predictable playcalling as well as showing our players they weren't unbeatable hot shite.

A butterfly effect of Carlos Dunlap not being a shithead because he didn't think they were unbeatable, and we are talking about the Nick Saban era ending before it even started. Impatient Bama fans would have ultimately canned Saban and Urban Meyer would have run the league for a few more seasons until chest pains kicked in just in time for the Notre Dame job to open up, and we would be talking about Notre Dame's Urban Meyer instead of like we do now with Saban.

Another example would be how the SEC refs protected the John Wall / Demarcus Cousins Kentucky team that whole year, only to see them crumble when they faced West Virginia in the tourney with neutral refs.

Y'all got any other examples of this phenomenon where protecting the higher seeded/media darling team ultimately backfired?

That’s funny considering Urban was 3-3 against Les Miles and LSU. Soooo, he wouldn’t have dominated shite! At best, he would have traded wins with Les Miles. Florida will ALWAYS be our little boi!

Speaking of Les, the 2007 UF @ LSU game where LSU was gifted multiple 4th down conversions that they were clearly short on to win the game is a counter example when SEC rigging has worked out for the league

I can see why a UF fan would need this to be true

No

You went against a Bama team who had spent twelve months waiting for a rematch. You were not beating Alabama in 2009 regardless of what happened against Arkansas a month prior.

“Gifted”.

You need to rewatch the game. LSU’s O line and J Hester18 physically dominated your defense in the fourth quarter. Florida started the fourth quarter with a 10 point lead (24-14). Florida simply didn’t have what it takes to close out a big game in the SEC. Much like their head coach, they quit when the going got tough and competition punched back.

I agree after I saw the replays, in person the players look like ants in the nosebleeds.

Babying is more applying to how they coddled UF that year, not implying that the Arkansas game wasn't a total hose job on tFlagship.

Football is blocking and tackling. That '09 Bama team physically whipped Florida up front. No amount of revisionism will change that.

The ironic part is Florida has not traditionally enjoyed favored status with the SEC office.

Nothing "backfired." The team that's "supposed" to win, does so about 99.9 percent of the time.

BAMA dominated UF, and losing to Arkansas was not going to change that.

Better that Tebow cries in October than December?

I've watched thousands of football games in my lifetime. I've never seen a more corrupt and blatantly slanted called game in all of my life.

You must’ve never paid attention to Bama’s O line being allowed to bear hug defenders on every play since 2009.

SC VS. LSU 2024. Refs protected the wrong team. SC would have been a 4th SEC playoff team.
