As an LSU alum I'm not sure what you are talking about. They will always be a little sister similar to auburn to alabama. I don't care how much money that they have they will always be known as a soft school. They are who they are & I have no idea what Bryan Tx looks like & hope I never find out.

bout fuggin time. They both needed a rival to raise the level for both programs. Every hero needs a villain.

1. A&M hires Jimbo. LSU fans pretend they never wanted him.
2. 74-72. Commence crying about refs from LSU fans (what else is new).

I think you're forgetting about the actual punches thrown at the end of the game.

There's a proximity consideration. Tons of LSU fans in the Houston metro area/east Texas.

This is the correct answer. A&M and LSU fans live and work together all over the place.

And, it's not really a hatred. They would need to do a lot of shite to get me to hate LSU or its fans.

I was at A&M from 89-93.

It was always a grudge mtch and it seemed to get more so as the years went on.

My first game in Kyle, first game of the season, we scored on the opening kickoff against LSU. THAT WAS FUN.

They are a natural rival with so many coming into TX for oil. Proximity breeds contempt.

I will say despite the asshattery that goes on here every LSU person I know is solid and most can put on a mighty fine tailgate.

All of this. My first game in Tiger Stadium was the ‘86 game — now THAT was fun — and I had never seen or experienced anything like it. The truth is that it’s always been an intense rivalry, across multiple decades and involving multiple sports.

The answer to the OP seems obvious. The people who post here do not represent reality, and when A&M joined the SEC, many of them made a fricking beeline to this site and proceeded to distinguish themselves pretty quickly as fitting right in. Unprovable, but it does seem to me that aggy posters here are “obsessed” with LSU, and not the other way around. I recognize many A&M names, because they happen to flock to every single LSU-related thread. Some of those appear to be young, ignorant trolls, and others appear to be older, more intelligent trolls.

I have to say, EKG is very cool. On a website that absolutely brings out the worst in so many, she manages to stand out as how Aggies are IRL and what their traditions are really all about.

Though I will say that now a lot of LSU fans understand that UT was 100% right about those weirdos.

Right about what?

The thread I linked was started by someone masquerading as an LSU fan but who clearly wasn't.

LSU/A&M have always had a healthy rivalry ... It's just that we haven't been able to hold up our side of the bargain for years, and the rivalry faded over time

Then over the last year we hired Fisher, 74-72, and our AD is the best in the SEC. It has to burn that we have one of theirs, while they have Alleva

So I expect it to be a lot more chippy on the field this Fall

I disliked aTm and their homoerotic ways since they were in the Big 12. I wouldn’t say hate tho. They’re just a really strange fan base for the most part.

That isn’t the case at all.
There are far too many athletes in Texas for all of ‘em to play at the top Texas schools.
I would much rather see our kids head next door to Louisiana than to many other places.

Regardless, Aggie Nation will be pulling for the Longhorns next fall when they play LSU. That says something right there.

I honestly never thought one way or the other regarding AnM. I always thought they and Arky were the rivals of each other.

THEN....

1. AnM joins SEC and immediately starts trolling LSU fans.

2. Bama lets them beat them and AnM start the delusion that they are equal w Bama in football and start sucking up to them which, inherently...

3. Pisses everyone off bc their lil brother syndrome is exposed in full force.

4. They keep getting weirder and weirder and just wont stop trolling LSU at every turn.

5. Now, LSU fans who never even considered them before have gotten tired of their incessant irritation and can’t stand them.

Soooo... if that’s how you manufacture a rivalry, then I guess AnM has gotten what they want. Personally, I consider Bama, Ole Miss, Florida, and even Arky and Auburn and State as more of a rivalry than AnM.

Anyway... where u been?
