I don't know. Auburn has been like Georgia Tech without even a fraction of the intelligence for some time.

It was clever, and there weren't many apartments in Auburn in those days -- mainly trailers and dumpy old houses. Pretty typical college stuff in those days.

All that is changing rapidly and most students live in apartments now, either on or off campus.

Many of the trailer parks only allowed students and had a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts and other amenities. Not to mention a small yard and patio. It wasn't a bad set up at all.

This was in the mid to late 90s when I was in college. A couple of guys I grew up with did this back then and basically had a rental property investment by the time they graduated. There were plenty of decent apartments there back then btw but certainly not anywhere near as many decent to nice on campus apartments as today.

Speaking of on campus apartments/condos, this year's Iron Bowl was my first time back up on the UA campus for a game since the pandemic and I was shocked by the huge complex of condos that have sprung up behind the Strip since then. Can't imagine living somewhere that nice literally right behind the Strip while in college. Would have come in handy after some late nights

Hell no it wasn't. And could have dogs. I lived in one for 3 years, 2 years in an apartment. I have no regrets!

I dated a girl at AU who was living in one of those "trailer parks" back in 2012.

I shite you not, she was paying almost as much in rent as I was for a one bedroom apartment in Fayetteville, Georgia. She was having to work two jobs to get by and even had a roommate. We can troll but let's not pretend those are $50 a week lots being occupied by Dollar General managers.

Don’t work so hard, bubba. There are always a few exceptions that prove the rule.

I was at Auburn from 87 to 91 and the few friends I knew that lived in a mobile home were from well-off families. Several of them were siblings so the investment makes sense. Once one graduated, they brought in a roommate. Once the second one graduated, they sold it or rented it. Smart.

I understand the trailer trash trolls but those were much bigger and much nicer than the apartments I lived in.

Probably need to learn from this but I'm sure the response will be less fun for the kids.

True, but none are anywhere near campus or in town really. Mostly in the rural areas of the county and practically no UA students live in them.
Some AU students live in trailer parks. Alabama grads live in trailer parks.

It may just be me, but I’ve always felt basketball student sections are nerdier across the board

I concur.
