I had an uncle who went to Tech. He’s dead now so he can no longer bring shame to our family.

What's weird is people who never attended, much less graduated, who profess their undying love for an educational institution.
Loyalty not following matriculation is an abomination before all that is holy.

My father attended Mercer and what is now Georgia State, but he never graduated. Neither had a football team back then. He adopted UGA, and we had season tickets going back to Wally Butts right up until, I kid you not, 1980.
We lived in Tulsa for a year when I was a boy and during the Billy Sims years. I passively followed OU and OSU never picking a side until a midlife crisis led me to enroll at OSU. Go Pokes!!
UGA and OSU were my grad schools. I have two undergraduate degrees from non-FBS schools. Football Saturdays are busy in my house.

Not me:
I have a friend who grew up a life long GT fan, attended and graduated from UGA, and well into his 50’s is still a GT fan.
Me:
I graduated from Georgia Southern and UGA grad school. I can’t stand Georgia Southern fans because they always compare their program to UGA as if they’re equal. My opinions weren’t very popular in my time there. It didn’t matter because I spent most of my football weekends in Athens anyway. I do cheer for Georgia Southern still though.

TCU definitely isn’t as cool as it used to be, sadly

What is weird is not understanding how a person or group of people can root for a “Sports Team” regardless if it’s attached to an educational institution and regardless if you went to school there or not.

Most? It should be 100%.

My mother met my father at UT in Knoxville (he grew up a lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan) - he dropped out of school to go die for our great country (and mom never finished college with a baby in arms) - I still like Tennessee; but am fully UGA

quote:Vince Dooley is great and I appreciate him as a great UGA legend; but I ALMOST wish he’d have gone “home” to Auburn and that Erk had become the UGA coach (we’d have had a couple of natties in the late 89’s/ early 90’s IMO)
I do cheer for Georgia Southern still though.
