What's weird about your team allegiance?

In another thread, rpg37 said this:
Me: Lifelong OU fan, started college at LSU and finished at Oklahoma State. Dad was an OU alum; Both my mom & stepmother were Texas Exes.
So it got me wondering: anyone else have any weird crossed lines in your college allegiance?

Yep, I went to school at state, worked and lived in Oxford for a decade, and am I lifelong LSU fan. The unholy trinity.

I grew up in Tuscaloosa, my parents both graduated from Bama and so did I. My football fandom literally could not be less weird.

Most of my family are Aggies. Both Grads and just fans. I'm only the 2nd one to graduate from Texas. (my daughter will be 3rd. She's a Senior this upcoming year)
One of the reasons I have always put so much value on our rivalry with the Ags and why I don't "hate" them like most. I appreciate our rivalry while acknowledging that most of them are great people.

I loved my time at LSU and although they were more of a basketball school at the time (Dale Brown era) they'll always be my 2nd-favorite team. My association w/OSU is on a strictly need-to-know basis.

My dad's side of the family are from Louisiana. From Natchitoches down to Slidell/Baton Rouge area. Most still there are LSU fans. Some are grads. Dad's immediate family moved to central texas when he was a kid so they didn't inherit the "lsu virus" haha.
My cousin's kid was a cheerleader there who's now married to a former player. (great guy. Met him at a family reunion).
We all have "mixed" families I guess haha.

same.... well, my dad didn't graduate, and i chose the same path he did. he was busy starting a local successful business.... when he saw it paying more than his degree would have, he never went back.

I grew up in an Alabama family. My mom graduated from UA. I got a scholarship to LSU and went there. I’ve got degrees from both schools.

I have no allegiance to any SEC team, but I pay attention to the conference because it's the most entertaining

I got too many stories to tell

Time to put that OSU flair on.
Growing up in Houston, rooted for Texas. Family in West Oklahoma went to OSU, wasn’t smart enough for UT and A&M was very gay.

Grew up in Tuscaloosa in the 70's. Mom was a school teacher. Every assistant she had was married to a football player. They would come and eat and those were huge nights for me. I can remember they had to cancel one night because Bear kept everyone hitting on the practice field until like 7pm and they couldn't move. I was so sad.
(bruce bolton came a bunch)

The fans are even more entertaining than the teams.

Born, raised, and still live in Lexington. Went to UK. Sister went to UK. Parents went to UK. Aunts, uncles and cousins went to UK. Grandparents went to UK.
So, uh, no OP.

Most of family are UK fans. Pretty sure they secretly hate me and just act nice so they can see my son.

My dad was a lifelong Auburn fan. First went to Auburn as a Boy Scout to usher the games when Pat Sullivan was throwing to Terry Beasley and stayed true to Auburn during his teenage years during Bear's 9 game streak over Auburn.
My brother and I both went to Auburn. Over 90% of both sides of my family are AU fans. Interesting juxtaposition with the state being mostly Bammer.

My first love was watching Vince Young win the national championship against USC. I was just a kid living in Texas.
I began rooting for TCU cause they were a fun underdog and actually pretty good. There was generally no conflict of interest here, but when TCU rose up to the big 12 things certainly got interesting.
I also liked duke for basketball, as does most of my family. We have an uncle and aunt who went there. I actually have family that went to all these schools I listed. But my college ended up not having D1 athletics, so can’t root for them sadly.
I’ve got a good example for your thread though. My great grandfather was an Aggy, drafted into WW2 when it was an all boys military school (I think the entire university was drafted)
My grandfather went to UT. As did his mother. I guess the reason he went is cause some friends from his boarding school also went there.
But he was always an Aggy fan, thanks to his father. So he was a UT alum that repped A&M.
On the other hand I have a cousin on my other side of the family, who was a big partier and probably couldn’t get into UT, so he went to Blinn, and then A&M. His parents went to UT, and all his family is UT fans. So he is an Aggy that roots for UT. To be fair, he also roots for the aggies, although I’m curious how things now that they’re back in the same conference again. But I think the last time Aggy and UT played in football, before the OG conference switch, he was attending A&M at the time and wore a UT polo to the game

OSU just wasn't good at the time I was there. But an unintended consequence of moving to the SEC is I can now root for OSU in all sports and not feel weird about it. Hard to explain. And truth be told: OSU would be a better fit in the SEC than at least one current SEC school

I will say it: the hot chicks per capita at OSU is definitely high, those western Oklahoma small town country girls...

My dad was on scholarship for track at TCU, mom went to Texas Women’s. My dad told me my jr year of high school that I could go to any college in the country except TCU.
Lots of extended family went to A&M, and my dad rooted for A&M when I was growing up, so I always knew where I was going.
