Our fanbase is really funny. It's almost like last week against a really bad Florida football team completely erased the disaster that was Tennessee.

This week tells the tale of how this season will go and if you can consider it a success or not. Win this and lose to Bama. Success. Lose this and beat Success. Lose both and drop 1 of the next 2 or both of the next 2 and it's going to be a long remaining 6 weeks and a long off-season.

I’ve always thought Kelly was a good coach and I think he’s overall done a pretty good job so far.

The negatives-
Obviously the special team miscues are unacceptable and have to stop. Also I thought he managed the Tennessee game about as bad as a coach can manage a game but it was also one of those deals where it just wasn’t LSU’s day.

The positives- They have appeared to gotten Daniel’s playing better which is a minor miracle. The defense is overall solid considering what they have.

When I think of LSU I think of coaches that have that charisma and edge about them.. Nick Saban, Les Miles Coach O, those coaches had that personality that you need to be successful at a place like LSU. You need a coach that understands the culture of the fans that support the school. I just can't see Brian Kelly as a good fit there, at Notre Dame he was not around much at all in the off-season. Yes he did a great job at ND playing a ACC schedule. Kelly is by far a better coach when it comes to the X's and O's than Coach O was, but the players would run through a wall for Coach O. Do you think he will be a good fit?

Orgeron and Miles won titles at LSU.

Kayshon?

I don't think that he's a head case. I think he's just kind of a quiet guy, his injuries took longer to recover psychologically, and he's frustrated.

Not every superstar player is a type A personality that can be a vocal leader.

Just mine, he seems to be moving the team in the right direction. Won't be immediate but there is steady progress.

Still waiting on an answer for a guy who would be a better cultural fit.

How about a coach from Ohio? West Virginia? New York? Alabama? Pennsylvania? Kentucky? Arkansas?

LSU has had as many coaches from Ohio as from Louisiana in the last century.

This myth that LSU needs a cultural fit is as nonsensical as the corndog joke that Auburn stole from the Big 12.

I agree. This is a game Kelly’s gotta win to call this season a success. 8-4 wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it’s also not why you’re paying Kelly $10M a year.

And? Should I name all the coaches that did not? (Charles McClendon, for one) Most of those would have and still are considered better than Orgeron and Miles. LSU fans reasoning leaves much to be desired.

Nahhh

1 game won't make or break this season, and Kelly's contract really doesn't matter, especially this year.

This is a reasonable argument if you disregard the fact that 23 years ago, LSU decided to change college football and start investing more money into its coaching staff than every other program in the country.

That’s like saying Kirby can’t win a title again because Richt didn’t. You’re disregarding the program LSU has built the last twenty years and referencing a coach from the 1950s

what he inherited was the most talented team in the SEC after BAMA and UGA. comparing Kelleys situation when he arrived in Baton Rouge to what Kiffin inherited in Oxford, and seeing where he has brought the program in 3 years...the jury is still out on Kelley but i think he is gonna do fine. he must work on his fake arse southern accent tho, it will not pass down here. must be genuine, lol

We have been hearing this ever since we hired him. Anyone saying this really just doesn't know what they are talking about.

For some reason, everyone thinks LSU needs a Louisiana cajun man to be our coach. That was never a thing here. We have had one of those in our entire history. Virtually every other coach we had was from the north/midwest except Jerry Stovall.

We are not Auburn. We don't have to hire an LSU man as our coach.

It wasn’t the most talented behind bama and UGA, but it still is talented. People forget that we have like 14 less players than everyone else. That’s probably what’s hurting us on special teams. Most of our ST start on offense or defense. And I bet it was the last thing on priorities for players when implementing new schemes.

So...what you're saying is you have to venture into totally different eras to discredit LSU? Cool, got it.

LSU is getting better.
Winning is always important but in year 1 it’s really more about culture buy in and improvement.
