Alabama's SECCG in 1999 marked the beginning of the decade from hell...

Calm down Harvey. It's a joke

Wanting to win an SECCG and wanting to win a NCCG is kind of redundant. Considering it's always the same.

Ask the Flagship..
I will consider their opinion when they have a winning bowl record overall, have won a BCS bowl game, and Have won a SEC Championship. Till then they don't know what is better....

Agreed.
SEC Runner up isn't really anything, though.

Going to a BCS bowl is better than going to Atlanta if you have to take one or the other.

Exactly. The question was BCS Bowl vs. Division Champ (which means you lose in Atlanta).
BCS Bowl, all day long.
BCS Bowl, all day long.

Ummm not really you do realize the team that wins the SEC and plays in a BCS bowl game is also considered a division champ right?...

if you win the SEC title you get an automatic BCS bowl bid.

The whole purpose of this thread was asking would you rather go to atlanta and lose or go to a non championship BCS bowl....my answer is BCS bowl, USC hasn't had near the press we got from the BCS bowl.

In all fairness to you and the Arky fanbase I can see how you can misinterpret the OP to be going to Atlanta and lose. You are afterall Arkansas and going to Atlanta and losing would be the expectation. However, that is not at all what the question is.....

I like the division crown and an opportunity to play for the SEC Championship. If you lose, like UF did in '09, you may still get a shot at a BCS Bowl. Making it to Atlanta is always what I hope for the most each year.

Bad press from being the only SEC team to lose a bowl game to Ohio State doesn't count.
I disagree though -- the SEC Championship gets more attention and more press than any of the BCS bowls except the BCS championship game. Arky's bowl game got more press than our bowl game, but not near as much as the SECG.
And neither team got particularly good press since both shat the bed in the post-season.

this is an easy question. Ask South Carolina.

I'd rather lose in the SEC Championship than not go...regardless of what bowl i get.

A BCS Bowl without question. It's next to impossible to get an at-large bid to a BCS bowl with more than two losses. There have been times when teams have won the division with a 7-5, 8-4 record. It means nothing.

The way these flagship fans are talking, I can bet they thought Georgia deserved a NCG shot in 2007.

Who won with that record?
UConn and Pitt both went to BCS games with 4 losses.

Also, there have been times when a team has won the division by virtue of having a team ahead of them being on probation. See 1993 Alabama and 2002 Arkansas. So technically you don't even need to be the best team in your division to win a division crown.
