Answer is simple. Best Florida more than once every 30 years and beat Georgia.

Oregon and VA Tech weren’t playing against a UGA team that is basically a lock to be top 3 recruiting at this point and a UF team that won’t lag to far behind them yearly. Not to mentioned the cross division matchups every year.

No they haven’t. A tie for 2nd is the best finish under Stoops. In 2016 and 2018.
That is finishing 2nd.

I can believe we lost to Kentucky, but from our standpoint it was a very winnable game that probably shouldn't have been from the start. Despite Kentucky winning 6 of the last 7 or whatever it is we still lead 18-14.

Oregon and Virginia Tech were historically garbage and they flipped the script.
While I agree, they play far less competition each year, so it's way easier to do that in the ACC and pac12 than in the SEC.

And honestly, this is a great time for this thread.
Florida is winnable at home if we play well and eliminate mistakes.
We should beat an average LSU team the next week.
Probably lose to Georgia, but hopefully a close game.
Beat the pirate again.
Do those, and the rest of the schedule should be a run.
I mean, this week starts a great opportunity for more respect for Kentucky.
There was decent hype to start the season, but the team really hasn't played well in 3 of the 4 games, but yet did win them all. I think that has caused a lot of the "well, let's wait and see if they can put together a decent game". I get it.

Yeah but it won't stop me from dragging out my Georgia memes. They're getting a little dusty

Whoa, I know Bama is typically an easy game for us, but them waiting for us in Atlanta I wouldn't consider an easy part of the schedule

I don't recall many MU posts lamenting that we lost to a bottom-feeder program. In fact, I thought there were plenty of props given to KY for the win.
Certainly, we wish we would have played better and pulled it out. I don't think MU was as good as some thought at the beginning of the year nor as bad as some believe now...but there is that defense of course, so we might be.

The NIL will change the script for some of the traditional have nots in major college football. If we can apply our success with it in basketball to our football program, we will be one of them.
We have a great coach, fantastic facilities and a very hungry administration and fan base. Admin sees dollar signs and fans see fun and wins. Basketball may still be King but football is the Prince who knows his value and won’t take no for an answer anymore.
Most importantly, it’s the SEC itself that has sparked these changes in UK’s program as well as some others in the conference. The distance between the traditionally great programs and the other programs that are trying is shrinking and will accelerate when the conference begins to demand program parity.
The astounding amount of money that member schools are receiving will only increase and that will pressure the traditionally less achieving programs to increase their efforts. In fact, this has already begun. The top programs will not step down to a level that the other programs can achieve with symbolic effort. Rather, it is incumbent upon the other schools to support football to a winning level.

I agree. Going 7-5 and 8-4 is way better than we have done but that gets you fired at many SEC schools. Lets rack up a few 10 win seasons before beating on our chests. Top tier schools talk about 12-15 win seasons.
We are a middle of the pack school now. I am happy about that because we were below the bottom with Joker.
Look at Florida's recruiting vs ours and tell me we are somehow better? Last year they kicked our arses. I just don't see where all the optimism comes from.
