After hearing all of the bad beats- I have to say Mike Price. Fired before first game is hard to top.

Price's problem in this contest is that his incompetency was never put to the test .
Kinda need to see a W/ L record.
Buffoon?
Clearly.
Worst coaching hire?
Put it this way: we could overlook a few whores If Curley Hallman had winning records .

Well he made the offense about as unbearable to watch as possible

I often wondered how somebody could be so bad/clueless on that side of the ball

He's not even in the top 10 worst of all time. If nothing else, he kept the cupboard full for SchmeckleWang.

Bert isn't the worst but he's top 3. He will have another year next year similar to this one. If your going on conference records he will be in the history books as being one of the worst.
But you will hear the uneducated keep making excuses for him. Once we can him we can get back to a pass happy winning offense.

Uh, yes, boy. Or did those 11 draft picks on your defense appear out of thin fricking air?

Just shut the frick up, grown-ups are talking.

Considering the hefty price tag of Muschamp, and his buyout for firing him, it's easy to make a case for him as the worst hire ever.

Just on pure wins and losses, Brad Scott is my vote.

I will throw out Curley Hallman just to get things started.

Foresight or hindsight? Foresight, on paper, he was a good hire. Hindsight; not so much.
Personally, I think Sylvester Croom having been out of the college game for 18 years, not having a recruiting network available to him and promising a "west coast offense" when you don't have the players was pretty stupid. Nice guy though.

Mike Archer was pretty bad.

Shula was pretty bad.

Kiffin put it in UT's butt, then broke it off before he ran.

Earl Brown, Auburn 3-22-4 record.

Hired him instead of Shug in 1948.

i gotta go with hallman. sad thing is he was a solid guy and sent me a get well card when i got hurt before my senior year.

he had great recruiting classes in spite of lsu's horrible facilities. i actually stayed in the dorms inside the stadium one summer. he had some close games that he should have won, may have put him over the top. fsu one year and of course jamie howard's moment of infamy. there were some great players during the hallman years.

he never was able to overcome his inability as a gameday coach. great individual, great recruiter. hard-nosed, old school. players liked him for the most part, but he failed as a gameday coach.

if we could've put hallman and archer together we would've been ok after arnsparger(r.i.p.) left.

Gene Chizik. Cam Newton masked that for a little bit, but man that guy sucked.

Agreed. He didn't have a chance to right the ship but I think he would have.
