Attempted genocide of the Mormons. We hated them so much that we legalized the murder of Mormons. Pretty shameful.

1838. Mormons moving West proclaimed Missouri to be "the garden of Eden". "Zion".
Missourians declared war on the Mormons and the Governor then legalized their extermination.
They moved further West until they found the promised land, Utah. However, to this day they preach that Christ will come back to Earth and fulfill prophecy in Missouri, otherwise known as Zion.

New Hampshire...the "Old Man in the Mountain's" face fell off! But, we produced Adam Sandler, Aerosmith, Alan Shepard and Carlton Fisk!

Pine Bluff. Lotta crime and smells terrible
I also hate how many bugs are in SE Arkansas. Gassed up there once on the way to Florida and the car had like 50 blood sucking mosquitoes in the car. It was torture.

Porky I think your link on Sundown Towns is a bit exaggerated to say the least.
Harrison being a Sundown town up to 2002 is ridiculous.
I didn't notice that. I don't think that's accurate either.
I do remember when most of those towns listed were still doing this, so it hasn't been that many years, but 2002 is stretching it quite a bit IMO.

ETA: On the other hand, Harrison probably would not make the qualifying list regarding top towns in the U.S. for accommodating a traveling road show on techniques for improving racial relations either.

Remained on the books until the 1970's, IIRC

Ahh... The SEC. Representing what is no doubt one of the most forward-thinking segments of America.

I look this up and did some reading. It's crazier than our kind of crazy...and that's saying somethin'.

I lived in Fayetteville for 7 years and in Little Rock for 16. They are both great places in their own ways. Fayetteville is more of a "town," and Little Rock is more of a "city." Little Rock is more diverse and has some high crime areas, but overall, is a great place to live and raise a family. Little Rock is by far the best city in the state, and no one from Arkansas should be bashing it. Seriously, frick you if you're from Arkansas and aren't proud of your state's capital.
I love Fayetteville, if I could I would live there so I could go to the football practices and Dickson street a couple nights a week; but overall, Little Rock has a lot more to offer.

I'm from the middle class of west little rock which is just as safe as Fayetteville. Now, there are parts of Little Rock you try to stay away from, but I never have any reason to go to those parts.

and if it weren't for Little Rock your name would be entirely different!

There isn't one place in NWA I shouldn't be in or feel scared. Sure, some Mexican areas that are run down but I wouldn't be afraid to be in.
Also, when dmac brought the wood it was @ Baton Rouge if that's what you were getting at. Or was it Mini Muhammad getting creamed enough in Little Rock to have 11 kids and an SEC great at rb?

Mississippi - First in every bad category, last in every good category. Racism back in the day and some racism still today.
Louisiana - I've only lived here a year so it's kind of considered my 2nd home but of all the states I have been to, Louisiana has by far the worst drivers I've ever seen. They treat I-12 like the Autobahn sometimes. And the constant construction from Slidell to Baton Rouge. Frodo Baggains traveled to Mordor on better paved roads.
