The schools aren't in the same state, so it's not a rivalry, dude. We don't understand the intense emotion that goes into a real rivalry.

Yeah, we've never had a "rivalry week" leading up to a game or anything in our history.

We never have had 3 POTUS attend a regular season game between another school to decide a national championship awarded on the field after it was completed.

All this because we don't know what a "rival" is.

i watch the egg bowl every year, i know how big it is to OM and MSU fans. I don't need to prove to you why it it's such a good rivalry.
That's because you can't!

There's nothing about that rivalry that makes it extraordinarily interesting, and you know it, so you and the others arguing with me are spending all your time talking about...LSU'S RIVALRIES.

If LSU's rivalries are not that great, why are you talking about them so much and not the Egg Bowl? If I knew nothing about the Egg Bowl before this thread, I still wouldn't know anything about it because you people won't say anything about it because there's nothing to say about it! It's boring! It's about as interesting as the C-USA championship game.

We've played LSU in Little Rock, Shreveport, Memphis, Fayetteville, Baton Rouge, and Dallas for a combined 55 games.

Ole Miss and State have played 108 times.

Ole Miss and Arkansas have played 57 times.

Ole Miss and LSU have played 99.

Thank you.

The one thing that brings Alabama and Auburn fans together is when SEC teams without a rival - I'm looking at you LSU - try to act like they know rivalry games.

not necessarily. I'd say Michigan-Ohio St is a better rivalry that OM-Miss St.

Again, the Egg Bowl is a cute little game, and I watch it when I get a chance because I'm a completist when it comes to college football (I want to watch every game I can possibly see), but it's no great rivalry.

you should post less. Your ignorance is showing. The rivalry between MSU and Ole Miss is one of the biggest in the SEC. Please stop talking when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Not an invalid point, but it's also not completely true. If you go to Michigan or Ohio, you'll get answers that cross state lines. If you go to Pittsburgh and Morgantown, you'll get answers that cross state lines.

I'm telling you compared to Kansas/Mizzou, there are no rivalries in sports...

No, we just disagree, that's all. Thanks for the sort of kind words.

You're level-headed. Tell me: why is the Egg Bowl so awesome? Tell me what I don't know.

Here's an important number, Adam:

0.

The number of wins over the past two seasons, LSU has earned against SEC teams that finished ranked in the final polls. LSU is 0-7 against the quality teams of the SEC the past two seasons. LSU is 1-8 overall with the one win coming against an overmatched and overrated #22 Georgia Tech squad. Win a big time rivalry game, and then come and brag about how awesome those games are.

BOOM

Game over.

The question was, is the Egg Bowl a rivalry.

Yes it is.

Is it the best rivalry? No.

But, LSU does not have a rival ergo, the Egg Bowl is a better rivalry than any LSU game because LSU has no rivalry game.

We are not discussing big games, important games, or meaningful games alone - we are discussing RIVALRY games.

The SEC rivalry games ranked-

1 - Alabama/Auburn
2 - Georgia/Florida
3 - Mississippi/Mississippi State
4 - Alabama/Tennessee
5 - Georgia/Auburn

So we don't understand rivalry games because we haven't beaten a top 25 SEC team the past 2 years....shite, if that's the case, there must have been a whole bunch of years whenever OM didn't know what a rivalry was.

Then tell me what's so awesome about the Egg Bowl.

Here's what I know about Bama/AU, Bama/UT, AU/GA, UF/GA, LSU/UF, LSU/Arky, and LSU/Bama:

- They hate each other.
- They play every year.
- There's almost always a division title on the line.
- There sometimes is a conference title on the line.
- There occasionally is a national title on the line.

Regarding OM/MSU, only the first two are true.

Dead serious here: What am I missing?

It may very well be the best. It has the traditional hate, and due to the lackluster programs in the Big 10, it's almost always important. I'm furious about the teams being in separate divisions.

Unfair comparison: there's usually a conference title on the line in that game (for now).

In a good year, one team in the Egg Bowl is fighting for a trip to Shreveport.

I'd be willing to also bet that LSU fans care more about us than any of LSU's other so called rivals care about them.

Having a hard time buying that Tennesse/Alabama is fourth. I'd say it's about on par with Georgia and Florida, but that's just my opinion.
