It may very well be the best. It has the traditional hate, and due to the lackluster programs in the Big 10, it's almost always important. I'm furious about the teams being in separate divisions.

Michigan/Ohio State

Kansas/Mizzou

Both have real rivalries where one state has waged "war" on the other over land...

Real hate...

Yes, but I hate the idea of a rematch in the conference title game a week later. Hopefully they'll change it in a few years. I think 2016 is the year they were going to look into it.

Why? They were all about rematches in 2006...

Of course. Michigan fans wanted a national title.

We're talking about every rivalry in the country except the Egg Bowl. Why? Because there's nothing to talk about.

I admit, though, if Shepard Smith interviewed Buck Showalter, I'd watch.

Like I said I never was talking about the individual games. I was talking about the never ending hatred that State and ole miss have for each other. When you ask LSU fans who they hate the most you will probably get a mixed bag of Bama, Florida, or ole miss(recently). If you ask any State fan the answer will be Ole Miss and visa verse.

The last 3 have no bearing on what makes a rivalry game.

LSU/UF
LSU/Arky
LSU/Bama

Those are not rivalries.

The LSU/Arky has been manufactured into make believing it is a rivalry game.

To be a rivalry it had to be considered one by both sides - Alabama do not consider LSU a rival, we have Auburn and Tennessee. Florida fans do not consider LSU a rivalry, they have FSU and Georgia.

You don't understand what a rivalry is - the Egg Bowl is by every definition a rivalry game.

Tradition, Quality of the game, and Hate.

There isn't a school in the conference that hates a team more than Mississippi State hates Ole Miss. The teams generally play their best game of the year, regardless of the team quality.

Ole Miss players are generally more excited for the LSU game, but the Egg Bowl means everything to Miss St.

There is not an annual game that means more to an entire fanbase than the Egg Bowl to Mississippi State. We don't care too much for them, either.

True, we played Mississippi and LSU often before we joined the SEC with each considered a "rival" during the hey-day of each. Plenty of hate for Ole Miss back in the 50s-60s and LSU before that...

I believe we've played Texas, aTm, TCU, Tulsa, and Okie state more then anyone else...

I'd actually say historically really. Older LSU fans hate us far worse than the younger ones.

There are plenty of Bama fans who will tell you they hate Tennessee the most. IMO, you can't just rank rivalries based on the percentage of the fan base that says a certain team is their biggest rival.

Yep. LSU is an historical rivalry. The hate from Ole Miss fans has heated up a considerable amount in the past decade with the way State floundered this past decade.

Yeah, the only reason I put Ole Miss/Mississippi State above Alabama/Tennessee is because they are in the same state.

When you have to live, work, and in some cases share a bed with your rivals, it ups the intensity a bit.

Right. Rednecks hate preppy douche bags. You know where else they have that kind of hate? All 49 other states.

It sounds as if you're talking about that kind of hate as if it is unique, but that kind of stuff is everywhere.

Part of this is that our three most traditional rivals haven't enjoyed much football success in the past few decades.

Sorry, but you've only pointed out to me something in Mississippi that I see everywhere.

Apparently Bama/UGA/Florida/Miss/Tenner are each allowed to have 2 rivals and Ark/LSU are allowed to have none without it being completely manufactured.

The games are as so manufactured, they are fake, completely CGI, haven't really played since 1936.

Mississippi is the only State where that war is actually waged once a year.

Why not? What's lacking? Florida, Arkansas, and Bama are indifferent toward LSU? I have firsthand experience that suggest something far different.

The games are almost always great, and there's shite on the line.

So why isn't it a rivalry game? Tell me? You can't just keep saying "It's not a rivalry" and make it true.

I don't need football lessons from one of you.

The fact that your team is half of the greatest rivalry in sports doesn't mean that nothing else is a rivalry.
