Reading all that, I just was thinking what a great reality show this would be.

Bert, Bert's hot wife, AD Long, obsessed fans, could end each episode with highlights from the game...

Make it happen Hollywood. Heck I bet we could work in something from Cops too: You know Bert gets a threatening letter and we have interviews with Bert's hot wife while Arkansas state troopers work to crack the case.

I still think he's pretty good, too.

Will Arkansas actually pay the insane buyout? Doubtful.

The money for the buyout has already been raised. They're waiting to see how the season plays out.

It is hard not to think so with what we have seen at times with the offense while he has been here. Posters have made good points about 2nd half last year being bad for the offense but hard to discount what he was able to do with Brandon after Chaney left.

I think your melt is a bit premature.

The Arky defense looked better against what appears to be a pretty good TCU offense than it looked in any game over the past two seasons.

If you'd have gotten any offense at all, the game was right there for the taking - which leads to the offense. Enos has historically been a good OC. I'm not kidding when I say I wouldn't have at all minded seeing him take over for Kiffin at Bama. It isn't all that difficult to believe that Austin Allen simply had a bad night against a good defense and the sky isn't falling.

Looking at the remaining schedule, aTm, NMState, USCe, OM, Coastal, and Mizzou should be wins. Those games alone get you to 7. You get Aubie and State at home and LSU looked like dog poo this weekend.

Don't send the FOIA letters just yet. Bert can still pull off a really nice season.

Absolutely. Love his offense. That is the system Alabama should run.

It probably would, although many would with that talent. He would be getting much more love in terms of real HC gigs if he hadn't already had his try at Central Michigan. I hope he gets a shot in the NFL after his time at Arkansas.

The money is obviously there, but I won't believe they'll write that check until I see it.

Please explain how you think this to be the case?

Nutt was most certainly a retread when OM hired him, but when he took the Arky job he'd been at Boise State for 1 season, having been hired to that job after back to back conference titles and playoff appearances at FCS Murray State. He was considered a very hot up and coming young coach and had a career record of 29-14.

Bert, as has been pointed out numerous times, was hired coming off his 3rd straight Rose Bowl, had never experienced a losing season as a head coach, and had a career FBS record of 68-24. He was considered a home run hire.

Now, compare those to a guy that with a career non-interim record of 10-25, who had already been passed over for one HC job after serving for 3/4 of the season as an interim and tell me who is the retread.

I will say the revisionist history on that hire at the time is funny. It is going to go down as a bad hire but many were shocked we pulled him. Now everyone tries to jump on board with the "I knew it was bad hire the whole time."

He sees the writing on the wall, he will walk to K-State when Snyder retires

My guess is they would go for Venables first, since Clemson's defense is not dropping off.

Actually I'd wager this is Snyder's last year, and this has already been discussed the usual way.

Step 1 Nebraska hires Jeff long as Ad
Step 2 long fires corn football coach and hires Bert

Problem solved

The Long part isn't going to happen, but Bielema to Nebraska makes a lot of sense for all parties.

If the buyout wasn't there, you have to think Bielema would definitely entertain that job. It fits him much better. And they would have to consider him an upgrade to Riley and someone who would bring their style of play back. A guy who's won 3 Big 10 titles and is from the Midwest.

Would come down to what's more important to Bielema. Getting the money, or leaving on your own terms and getting another shot at a top 25-ish program?

You are correct, but some of our fans can not see it. Our new receivers are going to have to get with it. TCU loaded the box late and we just misfired in the passing game. Our defense did look better. Bret is not going anywhere, our true fans will hang in, the leftist fan base sucks and will call every sports radio show and cry.

There were rumblings of Nebraska going after Bielema ~3 years ago, which may have been a big influencer in the buyout terms. I would think for a program like Nebraska, Bert would be no higher than option 3 on their new hire list at this time.

Why does he have a massive buyout at this point?

His buyout was a couple bucks per-pound.
