One year, they will preserve AU-UGA and Bama-UT when the schedules are released for 2024 on June 14th.

We will go to 9 games in 2025 or 2026.

It has nothing to do with competition it is about that lost home game every other year that a 9 game schedule would create. When ESPN would pay them, no way they would go to 9
Are you trying to tell me that individual game ticket sales for a game against some directional school are that big of a windfall that you can't sacrifice one every other year in order to get an extra SEC home game? Not even Saban is making that argument. Which schools in the SEC set their season ticket prices based upon the number of games played? A&M certainly does not. You pay for a season ticket, whether that's 8 games or six. Same for suites, donations, etc.

The one legit concern that has been raised financially about the switch is having to buy out a bunch of contracts for out of conference games. That's why Sankey was not going to put up a bigger fight on 2024, since it will reduce the number of buyouts required to stay at 8 for one more year.

Does it have to be a set 8-1 9-3 format? Could end up being a logistical nightmare but what about just having the marquee games fixed and then figure out the rest of the schedule.

For example. You could set it to have no more than 2 or 3 fixed. I'm sure TV would like this as well. You could also have more flexibility yearly in scheduling as well.

For example
A&M - ut@a and lsu fixed
Aub - Bamer and georgia
vandy - no one
OU - ut@a
Mizz - Ark

This is a huge pile of shite for the SEC. Who wants to continue to pay top ticket prices to see 3 rent a wins each year. Boring football is not good football. All these highly paid AD’s and Presidents took the easy way out. Sanky shite the bed with the ESPN contract. He should man up and fight for the fans. Saban is a pussy!

Auburn should just show Cohen and Roberts the door and send them packing. Couple outsiders making decisions. Never vote against ending DSOR tradition regardless of whether it’s a stop-gap measure.

Nothing's stopping schools from scheduling better in OOC.

I know it will still be played but Auburn admin shouldn’t have voted that way in principle.

Who wants a 9 game schedule just to have their team beat to hell by the time they make the playoffs? Everyone here knows there is no other conference tougher than the SEC why subject our conference to a harder road when all these other pansy arse conferences can just skate to the playoffs unscathed with their whole roster damn near healthy. Vanderbilt can beat damn near most of the teams in the other conferences. Screw that just stick to 8 games.

I have no problem going to 9 after 2024. But we're playing 3 P5 OOC next year.

The 1 year solution was unanimous. Next year OU and Texas get votes and they are both supporting 9 games.

The biggest thing for Arkansas is current contracts…

Neutral site with aTm - home game lost
At Oklahoma State 2024 - home game lost
Possibly only 4 SEC home games - home game lost

If Arkansas only has 4 SEC home games, that’s a schedule of only 5-6 home games in total. That’s a pretty big money hit.

First priority for aTm and Arkansas is ending the series in Arlington and going home and home.

2025 Arkansas is on the road at Memphis and hosts Notre Dame. Plus the Arlington game.

Season tickets are a sum of the costs of the individual games. A&M makes about $12M per home game in tickets and concessions. A 9 game schedule would mean A&M would make $12M less over a 2 year span due to the loss of an annual home game vs having to go on the road for a SEC game every other year.

The fact that A&M voted for 9 is probably more of an indication of them wanting the 4 team pods with 3 permanent rivals.

It’s about Money and Sankey/ADs/Presidents trying to walk back the ACC level screwup of signing a 10 year deal then getting OU and Texas to come into the league.

Someone will blink first but until they do we ain’t getting a 9 game schedule.
