SC literally plays Clemson and UNC this year on top of an SEC schedule.

saban wanted 9 until he got a whiff of his permanent 3 opponents. Then he threw in his bitch towel and retreated.

It is my understanding they did not even have a vote, because Sankey and the Presidents did not want the 9 game schedule if they were not going to be paid by the networks for the extra game.

It is more than just another game to get a win for bowl eligibility. Game day weekends bring in big bucks for the community. Taking a home game away from them can equal millions in dollars on top of what the school and vendors lose. For a smaller college town those extra dollars can be vitally important.

It has nothing to do with competition it is about that lost home game every other year that a 9 game schedule would create. When ESPN would pay them, no way they would go to 9

Ponchy is 100% right.

If ESPN ponies up the cash for a 9 game schedule, the SEC will go to a 9 game schedule. Until then... Holla, holla, dolla bill y'all. One home game, even against Northeast Southern Tupelo State brings in a lot of cash.

"It appears only five schools of the SEC's 14 current members support a nine-game league slate: Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri and Texas A&M. A simple majority of eight schools is needed for a deciding vote in either direction."

But of course LSU fans just had to get a shot in.

I'll say this, Florida and Georgia are the bitterest of rivals, but they are fricking lockstep in what they stand for.

All these highly paid AD’s and Presidents took the easy way out. Sanky shite the bed with the ESPN contract. He should man up and fight for the fans. Saban is a pussy!

Ummm, speak for your own school. Georgia always schedules two power five schools every year, as does Florida and South Carolina. We are perfectly fine with our schedule. This year was an anomaly because of Oklahoma coming into the league.

I bet he votes no even with just 2/3 of those schools.

Love the hypocrites! Yes looking straight at you Nick Saban and Alabama fans.

Saban all along, I want a 9 game schedule. Bama fans all along, we want a 9 game schedule and our coach is one of the only ones that supports it and isn’t afraid of the competition.
L

Well….. when the rubber meets the road and the official vote is made: Nick and Bama vote for the 8 game schedule.

Now, Bama fans with all their lame arse excuses.

If that ninth game was against a power 5 opponent that would tone down the criticism.
I would actually rather see more compelling inter-conference games than a ninth SEC game.

Stay on your side of the Mississippi Aggie. Vandy is a charter school. You got no say.

Just saving you from yourself. Now, the SEC has another year to try and do better with their schedule and get it right.

Heard OU would vote for 8 games next year as well so not changing anytime some.

No idea what Texas would vote.

The cancelled playing us when we went to the SEC so they might also vote 8.

Not so good at math it appears.

Or do you think Texas vote counts as 5 like it did in the big 12.
