Every major program does. Every starter on a major program does. I did my under grad at northern Arizona university and work landscaping for the university during the summer with the football. Even there we clocked in went out in a vehicle to a gas station got about 200 dollars of free food and drinks and just drove around all day and worked maybe 30 min a day

Don't kid yourself.

From the people I've talked to, most schools aren't paying Cam Newton money. Usually small gifts (meals, jewelry, etc) of a few thousand at most as a little encouragement to sign.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU committed major violations while recruiting a junior college football player but won't be slapped with any postseason bans or future scholarship reductions, the NCAA ruled Tuesday. The governing body decided to place the school on probation for a year and cited a former assistant coach for unethical conduct. The investigation found that former assistant coach D.J. McCarthy improperly arranged for transportation and housing for former defensive lineman Akiem Hicks in 2009 before later trying to cover up those actions.

Our fg kicker kept his scholarship. That's should be an impermissible benefit.
