I strongly dislike Arkansas fans "calling the hogs". I'm embarrassed for them as I witness it. I don't even know where to start when it comes to the Texas A&M fan base. There's a lot of problems there.

Although I despised the repetition of "Rocky Top" when Tennessee was relevant, the Vol Navy making their way to the game is pretty cool.

Calling the Hogs is a really cool and unique tradition imo. Everything A&M does is cringe, except having Lassie as a mascot, I remember loving that flick as a kid

So basically hate everyones tradition but your own? Everyone has their own unique tradition. It’s what makes college ball so great. Rocky top to Calling the hogs, if you’re at their house deal with it.

You are really trying hard there. If we are on the road at your house or any game on the road, our allotment of tickets is not exactly huge plus not everyone even brings one. You are trying to make something out of nothing so please try again.

Worst: The “Two-Bits” cheer by any school that still succumbs to that cringe-worthy chant.

For SC:

Love: 2001
Hate: The abundance of Sandstorm. Should be a one time thing at the beginning of the game to get the crowd going.

For SEC:

Love: Rocky Top
Hate: Cowbells

Calling the hogs tradition has been around since the 20s I believe. Farmers that went to the game at time, would call the hogs to encourage the team when they were playing poorly.

Now it is used to annoy and intimidate opposing fans and players.

Oh yes, how traditions are born. Back in the old days long before either of us were born (have to look up the year) a cow walked onto our field in a game MSU vs Ole Miss and we came back and won the game.

Well, obviously you can’t have a damn cow as a mascot so fans looked at that as good luck and adopted the cowbell. It really doesn’t bother me what other people say because it’s been a tradition ever since. Again, this is what makes college ball so special. Everyone here can name other Sec traditions they hate but the bottom line is that they love their own traditions.

The most popular legend is that during a home football game between State and arch-rival Mississippi, a jersey cow wandered onto the playing field. Mississippi State soundly whipped the Rebels that Saturday, and State College students immediately adopted the cow as a good luck charm. Students are said to have continued bringing a cow to football games for a while, until the practice was eventually discontinued in favor of bringing just the cow's bell.

Wasn't kind of a class warfare thing? The Old Mrs student body was from the old planter class who ridiculed Mississippi State as a school for the working class rednecks, so having cowbells was a way to "embrace" the stereotype
