Oh so we can’t bring cowbells on the road but it’s perfectly ok for us to listen to you Tennessee hillbillies yell Rocky Top 80 times when visiting State?

Spitting on Auburn fans is my favorite. If I have a son, I hope to pass that tradition down.

Sorry you don't have enough home fans to fill up your shitty stadium to overpower the deafening VOLS chorus emanating from the seats all around you

Not sure why there are so many aTm haters on this forum...I enjoyed my visit to Kyle Field and thought the rendition of the Aggie War Hymn with all the fans locking arms to shoulder in that sawing motion was really cool. Their fans deserve a better outcome on the field...at least they’re done playing Clemson OOC in addition to that brutal SEC West schedule the past two years.

At LSU we drink in the stadium more than any other fan base and nobody needs a drink stirrer.

I agree. I honestly don’t know what a band does today with all the piped in music. If college football is going to continue to hire DJs then I say defund the band and save scholarship money. You would also have an additional 100+ prime tickets you could sell. OR how about letting the band do their job. If you want to hear pop or new era rap then have the band learn/play that music like HBCU bands do.

Wasn't kind of a class warfare thing?

The evolution of land grant schools in states which already had an established "flagship" school have always created tensions. That was not/is not specific to UM and MSU, or really even the South.

But, that rift widened in the South post-Civil war and throughout the Jim Crow South era and integration periods of the Civil Rights era, as the federal government leveraged their ability to influence land-grant schools toward the desires of the federal government. This created continued pushback against the government by states resistant to having change forced upon them and further division between fanbases; even if that division created a bit of a false narrative. Neither bases in the civil rights era South were that far apart on social views, it was just that one half had no choice based on their alignment as a federal land-grant school.

By extension, and, again, not specific to the South, the flagships developed the notions that they were the bastions for social-cultural traditions reflective of the more privileged class and A&M schools were the lap dogs of the federal government. The former believed a college education was designed for the more liberal ideals and sense of broadening that the experience offered. And, they viewed the latter as essentially a Tech/vocational school with non-traditional University standards or a sense of purpose.

So, yes, many of the states with conflict between flagship and land grant schools have a rivalry and traditions that have grown out of political and educational perspectives, which are also historically associated with both class and race.

What ever Ole Miss fans say in unison about flim flam and jam jam's. That shite is laughable.Texas A&M's weird cheer led by their male cheer leaders is cringe too.

if they go small woodland and/or swamp critters, the LSU Gnawing Nutrias would be a betting favorite... go Swamp Rats!

Not many I hate, each school has their traditions and most are good, some maybe slightly annoying at worst. Then there are these that should be a criminal offense:

The Whistler
Cowbells
STTD

You can add in Rocky Top when UT is good, which isn't often, but when the Great Pumpkin was in the midst of his reign of terror, it rose to this level. You can kill anything if you use it too much. The 3 above fall mostly in this category.
