I really like him. He's entertaining and energetic. He's fun to have in the conference and generally a likable guy. He also fits the mold of what I expect for an LSU coach in the sense that Harbaugh does at UM, or Meyer did at OSU, everything about Orgeron just screams LSU.
I'm not well versed in what's going on with LSU, whether it's Aranda working magic or what, but he definitely outperformed my expectations this year.
All of that said, I don't think he'll ever win a National Championship which is the expectation at LSU so yea, I dunno, take from that what you will.

Solid coach, not great. Don’t see LSU making a national title run with him or even making the playoffs

I cannot stand him...his entire persona and career is one of bullying, head butting, sucker punching, braggadous, woman stalking. His personal record reflects his coaching record...both are pretty unsavory.
The details behind his submarining Miles and his beyond marginal behavior at Old Miss are not pretty. And...he is crooked as hell. As at Old Miss, he will have LSU investigated and possibly on probation before has sorry arse is terminated. If you want a throw-back POS coach, be prepared to get that in the football team too...and I doubt that a “Mike Ditka” type coach, all emotion and undisciplined behavior can go very far in this era of football.
There is a reason most other head coaches can’t stand him and it isn’t because he is good...it is because he is dirty... the spear of Tua when the whistle had blown wasn’t an accident.

With a four team playoff, this is difficult for any team. One loss and your team is pretty much out of the picture.

So it’s fair to say when Orgeron faces Saban, most of y’all pull for O to get it done?
Yes and No.
Depends who's melting the hardest on the rant at the time.

Slightly above average coach. A step down in recruiting from Miles, and runs the exact system. He is a Cajun version of Miles. I like him though. Very entertaining.

I miss him being at Ole Miss
I do think he has the chance to compete for the division every couple of years if he had the right OC. He's obviously in a good position defensively and recruiting. If he could get the right coordinator in there to lift the offense a bit, he could have LSU in the discussion in late November.
He works his arse off. I realize most coaches do, but he seems to take it up a notch. I don't think it was the best hire LSU could have made, but I think it could have been much worse (see OM and Fat Luke).

No. I mean look at last year and Alabama. They were almost out because of one loss. I guess it depends on the year and how the top teams do, but a team really needs to be perfect to get a 1/4 spot in the playoffs.
Was surprised that Notre Dame got in when they do not play in a conference championship game like everyone else. I find that frustrating for all the other teams playing an extra game.

Fun personality. Feels like a lateral move coaching wise though. Les wasn't getting LSU over the hump and neither will Orgeron.

Probably my second favorite coach, right behind Les Miles.

He's hilarious to look at and listen to.
He has no business coaching in the SEC. If he were at a program like Ole Miss he'd be terr...oh wait.

He has outkicked his coverage. He has done more than what was expected of him, but in the long term I still think LSU can do much better. He will keep you competitive in the SEC, but you won't be winning any national championships with him as your coach - he absolutely has a ceiling.

very entertaining, fricking hilarious.
sucks as a coach.

There have been 20 playoff teams to date, 14 of them have had 1 loss.

People still aren’t evaluating him fairly and on the entirety of his career. A lot of people aren’t inclined to give the man his due ( good and bad ) and just stay in the realm of caricature. Which in his case, becausebof his voice, is easy to do. I’ve never been an “ O guy “ but I see him doing a LOT of good things. I also really appreciate his honesty about things , even when it reflects poorly on the program or himself. And players over 30 plus years are overwhelmingly positive about him .

Hes doing good, getting 9 wins a year. About to start the decline though as Jimbo gets his groove.
