It’s a business. And it makes zero business sense to play OOC games in this environment.
I like the games. But it’s a risk that is unnecessary. You can schedule a cupcake and only lose two conference games and you are in.
So why on earth no do that? For a few extra bucks?

Do you guys realize OOC has nothing to do with losing to bad SEC teams during the conference schedule?
The arguments and all spewed on this board the past 24 hours is quite dumb.
It’s pretty simple…If a team doesn’t lose to bad teams, they’ll probably make the playoff. You can’t stand behind the SEC logo with your chest poked out hoping that saves the day for you.

Exactly, especially if you are a&m. Playing notre dame at home vs some crap school will still sell out regardless

SCAR beat Clemson last week and still got left out

You're getting exactly what you're demanding in the marketplace.
You sacrifice amateurism for NIL and the portal. After all, coaches are making millions and can go wherever they want. You sacrifice conference championships for wildcards. And now you want to sacrifice quality OCC matchups during the regular season for just a spot in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the rest of us, who just like to watch quality football on fall Saturdays, have to sacrifice all of these things that have helped to make college football great.

TCU and Baylor are just as bad

I say up conference games to 10, conferences are bigger now should be more games. That will naturally reduce the number of OOC games, and may reduce the incentive to schedule big OOC games.
Or drop the OOC games altogether and play nothing but conference games. Also add that you either join a conference (Notre Dame) or you are not allowed in the playoffs.
Take the top 2 teams in each conference and have 6 conferences. Basically if you play in your conference championship, you are in regardless of the outcome. Conference champs get a bi week.

Businesses are not about the customers. They are about the shareholders and owners. This isn’t about the fans and what’s good for the sport. It’s about what makes the most money for schools and leagues.
They do not care about “the game of football “. Or what’s good for “fans”.
IT. IS. ABOUT. MONEY.

Entertainment.
Having a shite OOC schedule didn't help Ole Miss make the playoffs.
I watch football to be entertained. Give me LSU/Clemson game one, not LSU/Nicholls.

I didn’t know it was a ban. I just thought you were being a pussy after than spanking at home.

There aren't many successful businesses that completely disregard the customer.
The problem is that we, as fans, have deluded ourselves into thinking that we're still the customer in modern college sports. We're not. Our TV overlords who write those big annual checks are the customer now.

You could have played a D2 school and beat them badly.
Yet you still would have been left out due to the beating Texas gave you.
You lost your last game of the season and could not get a single offensive score.
CFP does not want a team that sucks that way.

So let me get this straight, you're demanding college football to suck because of money that you're never going to see?
Meanwhile, the point of big OOC games for me is to watch quality football.

y’all are looking at it all wrong imo..
A good OOC gets you ready for a big in conference game.. which gets you ready for the playoffs..
If you are good enough..
What’s the point of making the playoff if you are just gonna get raped?
How does a 10 game SEC schedule help the conference get more teams in the playoff? With 8 games, there are 64 losses up pass around.. with 9 games.. 72 losses.. with 10 games.. 80 losses..
It would give you a better idea of who should be on top of the SEC.. but we may only get 2 or 3 teams in the playoffs..
We had a legit shot at 5 this year..
If Bama doesn’t lose to OU or V
If Ole Miss doesn’t lose to KY or FL
If SC doesn’t lose to LSU
We likely get 5 teams in this year..
Indiana and SMU out in that scenario
The system is fine.. Just win your games..
