That was 1969; 33-32 in Legion Field.

I was 7, first game I vividly remember because of how hyped everyone was.

Crap...you are right. I went to Lexington in '77 and '81 (as well as '79) and completely got those two games mixed up.
Looking it up on Weather Underground.
November 21, 1981 in Lexington the high was 30 degrees and they had precipitation the prior night...I thought for sure that was '77 that I sat in the ice...damn, I am getting old. Thanks for the correction.

Nope...Johnny's first season was '77. That '77 game was Fran Curci's last game at Kentucky. My dad said it was ironic that the losing team went from there to a bowl game and the winning team fired their coach.

No it wasnt. Curci coached part of the 80's here. Glad to see some of YOU Tennessee guys can remember Kentucky-Tennessee being a respectable rivalry game though.
I completely mixed up the '77 game and the '81 game. Getting old can do that to you, I guess. Anyway...Kentucky won both of those games.

I don't think it was '67. I think that was the first night game on national TV. CPB said it was one of worst games he'd ever been a part of. I could be wrong. Maybe the first prime time color broadcast?
Coach Vaught missed the extra point on the first touchdown. He went for 2 after every touchdown Archie scored the rest of the game, and failed every time but once. In hindsight, if he had kicked after every TD Ole Miss would have won 34-33...I have the full game broadcast with Chris Schenkel on VHS tape. it was 1969

Bama vs. Ole Miss. Archie Manning vs. Scott MFin' Hunter. The first nationally televised nighttime CFB game.

1984 Bama beat Penn State. Me and my Grandad listened to it on the radio.

First game that I remember well was the 1963 Orange Bowl, Alabama vs Oklahoma. Lee Roy Jordan made like 30 tackles with Bama winning 17-0. President John Kennedy attended the game and it was nationally televised, a rare treat in those days as very few teams got nationally televised more than once per year.

Bits a pieces of games from the 1992 season. The first full game I can remember was the '93 Sugar Bowl.

College football's first major prime time game, Bama vs. Ole Miss back in '69. Manning and Hunter put on a show...

Remember it well too. I think George "the Lone" Ranager was a top target for Hunter in that game.
Here's excellent article about that game with archived game photos.

The game was in b/w (edit, I think), and really was the first prime time nationally televised college football game regular season.
