In Septmber OSU beat a Texas team (on the road) that won 10 games and finished in the top 15
They beat PSU that won 9 games and finished in the top 25
They finished the season beating #2 Michigan that won 11 games and finished in the top 5

tech's schedule isn't even in the same stratosphere as that. Tech will play UGA which is obviously a great top 5 team, and then absolute bupkis after that.

Season stats: 97 tackles, one sack, seven forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, six pass deflections and four interceptions. Two total touchdowns (one defensive, one rushing).

So, Manti Te’o 2.0?

I mean have you looked at Smith’s stats compared to King’s though? Smith didn’t light up anyone that year and the competition was very mediocre. Texas had lost basically everyone from the year before. Michigan was stuck in 1976 philosophically, and Penn State was then what they are now.

I think you're kind of building his case with that stat. He leads the country in TDs with 70 less yards per game.

That mixed with a top 3 RTG and top 3 CMP% and only 5 INTs on an undefeated Indiana team, I think it's pretty clear why he is the front runner.

It’s insane to me that Trinidad Chambliss hasn’t gotten any attention. Hell, Kewan Lacy is 4th in rushing yards and leads the nation in rushing touchdowns at 18 and not a peep about him
Needs big pushes from respective SID office.

I havne't, beucase we were talking abotu schedules not stats. Hell look at any QBs stats from 20 years ago and they'll look markedly different than the guys of today.

yet it was light years tougher than what king is facing

They aren’t, but that’s not in his control either. But his numbers are great and he has his two best opponents in his last two games to make his mark. Really hope all the voters wait until after the CCGs to make their selections because King and Mendoza will be in their respective games and at least one, possibly 2. Of Stockton/Simpson/Reed will be in the SECCG.

Not a strong year for the award this year, but there have been weaker years. Last year was an anomaly because you had two players who were absolutely elite candidates and either one would have been damn near a consensus selection this season.

No clear front runner at this point in time. There is going to be a shake up with at a minimum of one of these three undefeated teams losing a game before the playoffs.

He would not have those stats if he played Georgia, Oklahoma, Auburns and other defenses in the SEC. His time will come

I'm personally rooting for the Texas Tech LB. That young man is playing lights out.

If Indiana beats tOSU in the BIG championship he'll have a legit run. If they lose then he'll fall off.

Right now his case is having the most passing touchdowns in D1 college football this season as QB1 for the #2 team in the nation.
