1979 Sugar Bowl BAMA vs Penn State for the natty:
Penn State running back Matt Suhey tried to jump over the top on third down, but Alabama defenders Curtis McGriff and Rich Wingo met him approximately one foot shy of the goal line.
Crimson Tide defensive lineman Marty Lyons delivered possibly the greatest trash-talk line in Sugar Bowl history. He stared at Nittany Lion QB Fusina and told him on 4th down, “You better pass.”
They didn't, and the rest belongs to BAMA folklore.

quote:
Alabama -- cajunbama Nick Saban told Louisiana State to "frick OFF!!!"
And did the same to Bama. The only difference is we hired a coach that won a NC 3 years later and Bama hired a coach that lost to Vanderfrickingbilt with a team full of 5 stars.

"2/3rds of the Earth is covered by water, the other 1/3 is covered by Fred Smoot".
Smoot’s other famous quote was gold. In a game against Vandy, he told their WR, “If you do my homework this semester, I’ll let you catch a pass.”

When Ronnie brown was selected before Cadillac Williams and the reporter asked Williams what he thought about that
“ he may have won the war, but I’ll win the battle”
Remember seeing that live

The Incident:
In the 1954 Cotton Bowl, Tommy Lewis, a reserve fullback for Alabama, came off the bench to tackle Dicky Maegle of Rice University, who was running for a long touchdown.
The Excuse:
When asked why he did it, Lewis famously said, "I just had too much 'Bama in me,".
Legacy:
This incident is one of the most memorable moments in Cotton Bowl history and has become a symbol of the intense passion and loyalty associated with Alabama football.
