What is holding Mizzou back from being an accepted member of the SEC by the masses?

As many of you know, I have adopted Mizzou as my second favorite SEC team. But I wonder why others haven't warmed up to them.

Is it the colors? Black and gold...more associated with teams from the north...Iowa, Purdue, Pittsburgh Steelers...

Is it the uncomfortable looking rocks in the endzone?

is it that they haven't had a prominent SEC assistant or head coach take them over?

What will it take for you to accept them?

I’ve only been to the southern parts of Missouri. Truly enjoy spending time there.

I wore my LSU gear and was not approached by a single Missouri fan to talk shite.

That ain’t SEC country type behavior

They aren't a southern state. Plain and simple. They are midwest and should be in the B10 or B12.

I think it's just a matter of time.

The most common answer you'll get is "they're not Southern", which is true for parts of Missouri. But Missouri/Columbia has far more in common with traditional SEC schools/states than not. You don't really see the bullshite coming from people who have actually visited Columbia.

You'll also get some lack of history, which is fair. And we feel that part too. It's strange feeling neutral/positive toward visiting SEC fans. I think we are still just happy to be part of the conference instead of wasting away in the Big 12 or playing road games at Rutgers and Cal that there is little room for animosity toward SEC schools. And we spend our hatred all on kU.
