And despite some knuckleheads on here, they actually have pretty cool, passionate sports fans.

passionate, you say? you are correct.
the yell leaders have a peculiar way of showing their love for one another.

i've heard that the fanbase is very tolerant toward the male cheerleaders.

It's not great, not bad. Smaller but growing like crazy. Seems a lot like the suburbs. Low buildings, strip shopping centers, terrible traffic.

I’ve been to Clemson like 100 times, our town is small but still like x5 bigger than Clemson.

My first time there was 1974. Wuff! Other than sports, never had a reason to go back.

What is College Station like?

College Station is a true college town. Town would not exist without the university and vice versa. Hit the nail on head.

Hardly any crime is investigated or prosecuted, especially for athletes. Some traffic especially during rush hour and on game days.

Very hilly and green, if you're from Levelland, Brownfield or No Trees, Texas.

If you're from the Austin-San Marcos-San Antonio crescent, the Texas Hill Country, or Fayetteville, Knoxville, Nashville, or any other place with geologic diversity, the topography is befitting a location that nobody lived in until the late 1800's when the State located "the A&M College of Texas there."

Campus is huge including its own golf course. The post WWII Soviet architecture is ... uhm... troubling. Still puzzled how or why the State allowed that to happen.

Campus is very shady with lots of big oak trees (again, a relative term; mostly skinny post oaks (bonfire kinda logs), not the majestic 100-500 year old live oaks prevalent across SEC Country) and lots of pretty coeds (well, it is in Texas).

It was considered the most exciting city in Texas a few years ago. Why? Perhaps the chocolate brown water of the Brazos River has an allure I'm not aware of.

I will admit the architecture and landscape there is pretty drab. However they’ve been making some recent improvements.

If you’re going for a game, I highly recommend you tailgate in the new Aggie Park. As in, all other tailgate spots in college station now suck in comparison.

The new pavilion in Aggie Park really nice. They recently had Troubadour Festival there. Country music and BBQ:

Having lived here for 22 years now…All the negative comments are right. It’s all Soviet era architecture, khaki uniforms, gay dudes, and milkmen.

No reason to come here. Stay away. Tell others to quit moving here as well. Hope this helps slow the appraisal district down some…

Lots and lots of beige

Also, apparently the master plan was copied from 1950's style Soviet architecture.

I had fun at the Dixie Chicken. Being one of the few straight guys makes the odds really good!

I chose Stillwater over College Station if that tells you anything. Greek life wasn’t big there.

Kyle Field was nice, and the part with the bars like the Dixie Chicken was cool. The campus itself is absent any character at all, it is just boring.

Yep. I will say this though, the campus was very clean. The buildings and landscaping also looked like they were well kept.

You can tell most of the people here haven't been to Bryan-College Station in years. One of the best parts wasn't even mentioned. I have family friends that live there and have visited several times over the last 20 years.

1. Century Square. It's across campus and near The Dixie Chicken. I would suggest The Dixie Chicken. Century Square is really nice with lots of options. Place to let kids run, outdoor games to play (free) and a good selection of foods. Absolutely try, HEY SUGAR, while at Century Square.

2. Down town Bryan has a cool little German food restaurant and the conjoined bar is Irish. Bryan and College Station connect. You may not even know when you leave one town and are in the other.

College Station is very well kept. Strict rules around the city to keep the neighborhoods clean looking.

3..If you wanna drop serious coin, eat at Christopher's. You're welcome!

The airport which is named Easterwood has a really nice bar and restaurant there. Definitely a place to have great drinks and staying away from crowds or obnoxious College kids. It's open to anyone and there's no need for airfare to get in. You'll enjoy it.

Campus is freaking huge and I've only seen negative remarks about it online if that tells you anything.

Aggie Park which someone recently posted pics of it here in this thread is really nice too.

If you find someone that's c9mplained about College Station, they only came for a game, and or didn't get the full tour

I grew up in Aggieland. It’s kinda ugly for the most part but it’s got everything you need.
