He barely beat Auburn in the natty and had to depend on 2nd half heroics from his Heisman QB. That same team got drilled by Oregon in the playoffs the next year and lost by 39 points.

We can talk about facilities if you want to but FSU has been in the top 10 in recruiting for several years. No matter how "unhappy" he might have been, to go 6-6 at FSU, with all of that talent, if pretty inexcusable.

Agreed. but having you team break down from losing 1 player is not a team that is a good as FSU was advertised.

Jimbo knew what he was getting into when he became HC. It is not like he was hired away from a West Coast School and had never been around the PTB. You do not jump from a three school Conference to the SECW unless you see the writings on the wall. Jimbo knew that unless he turned things around this season at FSU, his stock as a future HC (w/big$) at a large program would be dropping quickly. He took the money are ran at the right time.

It was the smart move for him to leave and restart his clock. It was doubtful he was gonna get FSU back into the elite. Clemson had passed FSU by, and Miami and UGA have made recruiting harder.

He would have been nuts to turn down the money.

In a way Jimbo heading to A&M was almost foreordained. Here is a very public figure whose wife just had a very public affair. His mojo is gone and somewhere in the back of his mind he has to be thinking... "what if that happens again to me?"

At A&M he can rest easy in the knowledge none of the male students will romance his love interest away from him.

How do Clemson's facilities compare to FSU's facilities?

If Jimbo sucked in 2019 and FSU wanted to fire him they would have had to pay out the rest of his contract which was 30 M. I can't see them doing that if they're not willing to invest fully in facilities.

FSU got rid of Bobby Bowden for going 6-6.

Jimbo just went 5-6 and he's a long way from Bobby Bowden.

He got out at the right time

Thanks. Looks like a very recent reno. Clemson has nice facilities.

FSU fans.........what gives with not upgrading your facilities? That's not something I'd expect you to fall behind in.

For a school that has all of the benefits you listed, why haven’t they been good at football?

1. We're top 15 in wins and win percentage.
2. We haven't always had these benefits, you dumbfrick. (Prior to the late 70's, we were too small for LSU to even play us on a home and home. Only a small minority of our games against them have been in College Station.)

They have a football facility completed. That's the big difference. By the time the season starts FSU will announce a $60 to $65 million stand alone facility

Well that's good news at least. Are there any images available to see what that will look like?

That won't happen until they officially announce it.

Playing in an 8 Team conference with Baylor, Rice, TCU, TX Tech and SMU.

All those have had pretty good runs in their past.

TCU has 10 top 10 seasons and a national championship
SMU has 6 top 10 seasons
UH has 5 top 10 seasons

Compare them to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi St, Kentucky, Tulane, etc.

How different is it?
