What if Jimbo was Unhappy at FSU

If he was unhappy at FSU as a HC for whatever reason, could be that may have been reflected in FSU's performance on field and recruiting, after the first year or two.
Not saying he was or wasn't, but just asking. Because if now he is happy at aTm, that school will begin showing that in not too long. Recruiting. Performance. Wins. They will outshine the Longhorns and their new coach Herman. Of course that might not be saying a lot. But they will also make some big noise in the SEC West and could become a major factor in finally deposing Sabanbama from the throne.
I know, they will also have to beat LSU.

He was definitely unhappy, between the admin, the boosters, the fans, and getting cucked he was miserable. He’s a new man in College Station and he fina go in.

Losing Francois and having no QB depth is what killed FSU last year.

It was well documented that he was. You don’t leave a job like Florida State for Texas A&M unless you are.

Seemed to recall there was something between he and the AD that wasn't right. There was a small contingent of fans that were put off with him for re-negotiating his deal once and trying to force the FSU to upgrade facilities. Who knows... Sometimes it is best for both sides to part company.

Facilities upgrades were definitely a part of it.

He was unhappy because of his failing marriage...deal to LSU was real

I read somewhere he wanted facilities upgrades and he also wanted more pay for his staff and he had a hard time getting both.

This is true. There was an interview where he talked about trying to get the stuff he felt he needed to compete with the Alabamas of the world (resources, facilities, etc) and how it was a battle each time. Apparently, at A&M, it's streamlined by Woodward and not something he has to worry about.

I think that had more to do with it than his failed marriage. Staff losses will kill momentum and disrupt direction. Facilities can wait, but staff poaching is constant.

FSU is like Miami, they have never truly had to play the facilities game because of the built in recruiting advantage. That is changing because of all the new 1A schools in the state and the number of coaches outside of Florida that have ties to it.
I also think like Stoops, bielema, truly in today's college football, the sec is the measuring stick and you never feel complete outside of coaching in it. They love to talk about it until they get in it.
FSU and Clemson is who we should have added in the 90s. Bowden was too stupid to understand that they would have still had a lot of success but would have a full 100k seat stadium that fills up every weekend instead of crap attendance in the ACC as Duke and wake don't travel.

He should be happy there, College Station is full of happy people.
...although "happy" isn't quite the word I'm looking for here.

Along with a fractured locker room and bad all around culture

He was. Bad divorce, boosters on his arse, not getting along with the administration, a fan trying to fight him from the stands after a game last year...Hell, even fans giving him shite when he was out grocery-shopping. Definitely unhappy the last year or two in Tally. I work in Tally with a lot of FSU grads and boosters. They told me first-hand that Jimbo would be leaving....it was just a matter of when and to where.

Maybe Jimbo was just good when the ACC was a one team league and he was the head coach of that team.

Truf. Who would leave a job at a smaller, poorer school in a worse conference with far worse facilities for a job at one of the richest athletic programs in the nation playing in some of the best facilities in the best conference in a fertile recruiting ground?

Maybe. Also, maybe he won all those bowl games and that national championship cause there literally no other good teams at all during those years. That's totally reasonable.

Because Texas A&M is not a better football program. Simple as that. For a school that has all of the benefits you listed, why haven’t they been good at football?

Evan Williams kept him happy most days

Jimbo knew what he was getting into when he became HC. It is not like he was hired away from a West Coast School and had never been around the PTB. You do not jump from a three school Conference to the SECW unless you see the writings on the wall. Jimbo knew that unless he turned things around this season at FSU, his stock as a future HC (w/big$) at a large program would be dropping quickly. He took the money and ran at the right time.
