What happened to SEC pride

Over the past decades SEC pride was a real thing. We had internal squabbles but nothing more than competitive banter. The SEC stood shoulder to shoulder when it mattered. Has the SEC been watered down by adding too much outside culture? The same way Texans say “don’t California my Texas”, has the SEC “Big 12ved our SEC”?

LSU pushed boundaries but they will assimilate. They have no choice. Despite what fans think, the LSU brand can’t make it as an independent. Even Texas learned that with the longhorn network. LSU is better as a sum of the whole.

No offense but I hope every team in the SEC (but mine) loses every game. The only exceptions would be teams that play OSU, Michigan, or ND. The idea of conference pride is really dumb.

SEC pride was a reaction to the south taking it on the chin in life and in football for the better part of the 20th century.
Then the SEC reeled off a bunch of national championships and became the big boy league for 2 decades. The original outsiders (the moneyed/coastal B1G/PAC) were neutered, so you had to find new enemies, and you found them within your own conference.

It ended when LSU stuck its middle finger in the SEC’s eye by edging pro players then gaslighting us with “but what rules did we break?”
You can’t do that shite. recruit people to sue the conference, publicly disparage the commish, then whine about a loss of brotherly love.

I agree LSU handled that whole situation poorly. It’s a weird hill to die on. But that doesn’t erase 100years of conference affiliation. I would expect the rest of the SEC charter members to understand. I get why the old big 12 members do not understand it. Not a dig but you’ve basically been through several conferences in your history. The original members of the SEC have been in 1, forever

I think the sentiment of fans across the conference in regards to LSU situation, and LSU fans sentiment toward the conference situation. Everyone saying kick them out, LSU fans saying leave this shite show. It all feels really weird. I hate Bama, Florida, and Ole Miss, but I’d never advocate for expulsion. It just feels weird

How so exactly and factually? Most folks, like you, fell prey to the hype and misinformation.
When the SEC presidents met on September 10, they took no disciplinary action against LSU and didn’t even hold the threatened expulsion vote.
