things actually continue to move in the other direction -

SC hasn't voted D for Prez since the Peanut Farmer in 1976 - the Kenyan only carried 44% of the vote in his two runs -

https://www.270towin.com/states/south-carolina

as for the topic at hand - there are natural attractions in every SEC state - you just have to know where to look for them - same goes for food -

best kept secret in SEC territory is actually in the NC Smokies - above GA below TN - Fontana Lake -

Texas: Never been, and do not really have a desire to outside of maybe El Paso/extreme Western Texas.

So West Texas and East Texas should be two different states, as they are two different cultures. I was raised in East Texas, moved to work in West Texas for 25 years, and now back to East Texas.

The people in West Texas are just like the land. Tough and rugged. Cowboys are real out that way. A southeast fella has no chance against a west Texan. I'm not even sure woke made it out that far. It's nothing for a west Texan to beat your arse.

I moved back to East Texas because I like rain, grass and dirt, better than dust, cactus and rock. But I miss the ruggedness of the people out that way, and I made some good friends out there. I pretty much wore Red Wing steel toes everyday - in East Texas I wear tennis shoes. My Wranglers are now ankle tight slacks. I still live on acreage, and I enjoy it - but I doubt I could whoop an arse any more.

Short story - don't mess with west Texas.

I only made that comment due to the blue virus that seems to be encroaching into the south on the east coast.

Virginia is already a freaking lost cause. Now the disease is sweeping North Carolina - and seemed like nobody saw that coming a couple generations ago. So I guess one day it will head your way, but hopefully not.

Comparing a state to a city automatically voids your opinion.

Alabama: Grew up a good bit in northern Alabama. I won't live in a state that has income tax and wants to put me in jail for smoking weed.

Arkansas: The road construction state. Seriously, what the hell.

Florida: Live here and don't plan on moving currently. No income tax, good weather and I can legally smoke weed. Also, much more common sense laws.

Georgia: I just mostly think of it as Atlanta and interstate exits on the left side of the road. Otherwise it's kind of like Alabama.

Kentucky: They elect the best politicians in the country and that reflects well on the people. Went to basic training in the state, crazy weather and lots of road marches up hill. I remember when Papa John's wasn't a national chain and the pizza was so damn good.

Louisiana: Lived here as a kid for a few years. Great fishing, but kind of a magnet for storms. I hate getting stuck on the bridge in BR that overlooks the LSU stadium on 10. Damn thing seems like it's next in line for some kind of disaster.

Mississippi. Kind of like Alabama, but lots of brown. Kind of poor, but that just means I'm stopping to eat. Only time I hear about people going here is to gamble.

Missouri: Kind of a colder and flatter Mississippi. I know they well say "but the ozarks" and get all mad at me again, but the fact you're naming a single area is kind of my point. It's like if Mississippi and Illinois had a kid.

Oklahoma: Real mini thins and high speed limits on backroads. In a competition with Texas on who can be the biggest assholes when it comes to driving. OK city they just make their own exits. Gotta keep your head on a swivel.

South Carolina: Only been here a few times. Seemed like a nice place, but nothing about it really stands out to me.

Tennessee: Grew up good bit here. Great state, no income tax. Doesn't have legal weed, however they've never been as hardcore about it as Alabama. Like going to Alabama, I always have to drive around to see how things have changed.

Texas: I generally try to avoid Texas really. The traffic sucks hardcore. Some cool people there, but it's such a big state that others kind of give a different impression. Always something crazy happens when I'm there.

Alabama- a great place to litter
Mississippi- good food and the collective BMI to back that up
South Carolina- overrated beaches and golf
Florida- a lot of shithole cities and jorts
Kentucky- I'd have to be habitually drunk on Bourbon to live there too.
Tennessee- frick this entire state
Louisiana- a backwater state that for some reason embraces it's French heritage, which everyone else knows is nothing to embrace.
Texas- the only thing larger than this state is a Texan's ego.
Arkansas- Walmart and poultry

One is full of casinos and Louisianans since they have no beach.

The other is full of every fricking Yankee who lives with a 2 hour drive of I-65.

Pick your poison.

Gees, yall are making this waaaay too hard....

Oklahoma: Never been

Louisiana: Great food on the French quarters. Great duck hunting south of the city in the bayous. Great flat fishing for spots and sea trout.

Texas: Great deer hunting. Got relatives out there who hate the Longhorns, so...we claim them.

Arkansas: Only been once...eh, just eh.

Mississippi: Aside from the Mississippi river, not much to look at. Its the most outdated, backwoods state in the south.

Tennessee: Smokey mountains make it worth the trip. Try the national park for native trout with a fly rod.

Kentucky: Great whitetail hunting, even some Elk up northern part of the state.

Alabama: Just like Georgia but they're about 25 years behind us. Not that that is a bad thing in my opinion.

Georgia: My home state. What can I say.

Florida: The beaches are great, the best deep-sea fishing is in Destin, out the panhandle towards Miss. Only folks that don't like Fl don't like the ocean.

South Carolina: Got inlaws down there. Great flat fishing for flounder, sea trout and reds.

Missou: Branson....best trout fishing this side of the Rockies.

New to the SE, Atlanta area. But from Texas 55 years worth.

Oklahoma: Flat. Tulsa is nice and underrated.

Louisiana: Keeps busting my wind shields. Last 2 in Shreveport.

Texas: Grew up and learned to fight in West Texas. Learned economics, IT, and goal post combat in Lubbock. Learned to hate Longhorn Tee-shirt fans in Austin. Learned to laugh at Aggy when my kid went there @CS

Arkansas: I40 sucks the rest of state is nice

Mississippi: Has some nice spots. They do need to turn their eco around.

Tennessee: One of my Favs. Well with the exception of Vol fans.

Kentucky: Roadkill everywhere. Seriously I'v never seen so many dead deer along I-24.

Alabama: North Alabama around Huntsville is VASTLY underrated. Rocket city is on the pad and about to launch. It's what Austin was in 1990. I think it will be the next southern boom town

Georgia: Tons of UGA loving family and many are grads. Atlanta is great when I'm not stuck. Dallas's green twin.

Florida: Awesome governor but hot humid and flat

South Carolina: Charleston is really nice. Almost moved to Greenville

Missou: Very diverse topography.

I like 'em all.

I have a love hate relationship with Kentucky. The hollers of Eastern Kentucky are really embarrassing and annoying. They are filled with good people who have one hell of a narcissist pride/victim complex that just overpowers everything about them. Louisviile and Lexington are liberal cities with horrible public schools because of typical progressive priorities.

South Carolina is a place I really like. I’m not all that familiar with every nook and corner but I grew up visiting family who lived on banks of Lake Marion. Between that, trips to upstate and down to the low country, it’s a wonderful state.

Brother lives nears Stone Mountain Georgia and visiting that general area is such a headache it has ruined my entire view of the state. Not to mention most of the people I’ve interacted with in the state do not seem to have that same southern kindness and hospitality as most of the other SEC states.

Alabama seems nice enough. Have family that lived in Tuscumbia, Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Similar vibes to western Kentucky in a lot of ways that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Tennessee is basically a southern version of Ohio. I do enjoy the Smokey Mountains

The Ozarks don’t exactly “spill over”. The majority of the Ozarks are in Missouri and “spill over” into Arkansas (to be fair, the Arkansas portion is the more dramatic and scenic portion).

I assume most of the state is flat?

Incorrect. The north-central part of the state and the western side between Springfield and KC are relatively flat, but the majority of the state is “hilly” at a minimum. Oh yeah, and the bootheel in the Mississippi delta. Now that’s flat.

Atlanta in general does suck and the traffic is half the reason it does suck. There are parts worth driving to even with the traffic but I loathe the traffic so much I avoid it (I live near Chattanooga)
