Only winning 1 Natty during his tenure
Yeah with two losses and how much help did it take to even get a chance? Les was in over his head his entire tenure. 2011 was his chance to show the world he wasn’t a joke and he even blew that.

Les was a good guy and a decent coach. He did some very good things at LSU but obviously had many seasons where I felt we underachieved.
He is a great recruiter, players seemed to like him a lot. His arrogance and stubbornness is what bit him in the arse his later years at LSU. His refusal to adapt and evolve with our offensive philosophy was a major downfall for him. We did not have a system that put our QBs in a position to succeed or develop. The play calling became so predictable that the entire stadium knew what was coming. Our passing plays literally had 2 WR's running routes most the time and it felt like almost all the passes were long balls the sideline. Either they would get it or it was out of bounds.
I appreciate what Les did for LSU, obviously there are some great memories that I will treasure but I'm glad we moved on, it should have happened sooner IMO. A fresh start was needed. I originally thought hiring Ed O was a bad idea but I couldn't be happier to be wrong, everything worked itself out. I wish Les the best at Kansas, I hope he can get them to a bowl game in the near future.

As an LSU fan, I always thought he was a buffoon who won on talent and luck enough to keep himself from being replaced by someone who could maximize our potential. Were yall happy that we were saddled with a stubborn dumbarse or did you think he was actually a decent coach?
I always thought he was a terrible coach. Piss poor in game guy. Clock management was so bad. LSU stuck with a 1950s offense.
I absolutely love what has happened for LSU in the face of all the limp wristed idiots who claimed Les' "daunting" winning % as proof the school was making a huge mistake firing him. Now LSU has a modern offense and a coach who fits in with the Cajun culture like a glove. Natl championship to boot.
The Ed Orgeron era has blown to pieces a lot of idiot narratives and for sure hurt a lot of feelings.

He also understands that Miles won that NC because he was coaching Nick Saban's kids.
By that rationale Kirby got to the ‘17 title game with Richt’s “kids”.

Good man but sorry coach! Won less with more! Wasted talent!

You nailed it. Players liked him and played hard for him. Great recruiter and motivator. Poor in game management coach though. I said for years he needed to get whoever the young hotshot coordinator at the time the keys to the offense and get out of the way. Pretty much the way O did with Brady. Miles would still be the coach if he did this years ago. He preferred to run his safe 1970’s offense instead. Glad O saw the light and didn’t repeat his mistakes.

Family guy and would love to have him back supporting the program from an administrative standpoint but he was a terrible coach.
