As an LSU fan, I always thought he was a buffoon who won on talent and luck enough to keep himself from being replaced by someone who could maximize our potential. Were yall happy that we were saddled with a stubborn dumbarse or did you think he was actually a decent coach?

Where is he coaching now?! You should've known by now he went to one of the worst school in the Big 12!

He stepped into a gold mine of NFL talent when he arrived in BR
in 05.
Only winning 1 Natty during his tenure was underachieving.
Saban doesn't get persuaded by Huizenga to take the Dolphin job the dynasty would have been at LSU over Bama.
Les is a likeable guy. Hope he gets doormat Kansas to a bowl here & there.

Many Sooner fans didn’t care for him and his over-the-top arrogance when he was coach at Oklahoma State. But he earned it and is the reason why Oklahoma State is relevant today.

Oklahoma was closing in on another national championship opportunity in 2001 before losing at home to a 3 win OSU coached by Les Miles in his first year. That was the equivalent of Saban at MSU upsetting undefeated Ohio State in 1998.

Miles with an encore in Stillwater in 2002 defeated the Sooners again. Oklahoma went 0-2 vs. Aggies teams that year.

His cockiness got the best of him in 2003 with the “Let ‘Er Rip” comment before a 52-9 loss to the Sooners in Norman.

2004 was a narrow escape for Oklahoma as OSU missed a late field goal for the tie.

I never had a problem with Miles. The man is a decent coach. His arrogance and cockiness is no different than some of the names we have had at Oklahoma. He earned the right to be who he is. He won a national championship in the toughest conference, and nearly won another title.

Good guy. Took some really dumb risks that happened to pay off every now and then. He still had out number...like pretty much every LSU coach this century. I'm really glad he's at Kansas and if he could even get them to a bowl game regularly, it would be an amazing coaching job.

What did I think of a dude who eats grass for his own entertainment?

Perfect for a place like Louisiana.

He won more championships than Georgia has in 40 years.

Perhaps Kirby should try it.

Kirby understands that eating grass isn't the secret to success.

He also understands that Miles won that NC because he was coaching Nick Saban's kids. Miles couldn't win one without Saban's team. So your whole argument has no basis in fact.

Yet. Miles has still won one more national championship than Kirby smart has with equal talent

Face it Kirby smart is nothing more than a Les Miles reincarnation.

Kind of like how Kirby was only able to get to one with Mark Richt's kids?

First. Kirby's a better coach than Richt.

Second. Richt wasn't on Nick Saban's level as a coach.

Therefore, the balance of your argument is mistrued and incorrect, but please try again.

Who said anything about one being a better coach than the other?

You should try reading my comment again and see if you can understand it better the second time around.

I did read your comment. It suggests that Kirby should've been able to win with Mark Richt's talent. The problem is that Richt isn't Saban. Miles took over the talent of the greatest coach in college football. Kirby didn't. So the expectations can't be the same.

No it didn't.

You said Les only won a championship because he was coaching Saban's kids and I asked if that was like Kirby only getting to a championship because he was coaching Richt's kids.
