I think Saban dies before he retires.
He most definitely will stick around long enough to frick Kif's timeline to succeed him...he's just that kind of dwarf.

Ole Miss is a stepping stone job for Kiffin and Auburn is a destination job
This is false
Maybe many years ago or perhaps many years in the future, but as long as they are second fiddle (by a large margin) in their own state, they are not a destination job.

Hugh Freeze beat Bama two years in a row. If you can do that, you can compete for NCs.

As an AU fan I don't want Kiffin and really hope it doesn't happen. I'd rather not hire a retread.

A retread? Okay that's fair, but are you saying you don't want to hire someone who has been a head coach before?

I agree with your assessment, but there is one other factor that Coach Kiffin will most likely consider is the toxic environment that Auburn has become because of the very wealthy boosters.

Not one that has been fired twice and had to backtrack in his career to the point of going from USC to Ole Miss. I don't trust him at all and don't think he will ever win anything. I watched in Jordan Hare last year and his coaching alone lost that game.

How does Auburn compare to Florida

His ultimate goal is the Alabama job when Saban retires.

Who do you want?

As long as the expanded playoffs are coming. There's a bracket at the bottom of the SECr right now that shows what the playoff bracket would look like if it were 12 teams today, and OM is in it.
Their first round game would be against Michigan, which would be an intriguing matchup that I'd give OM a 50/50 shot at winning.
With the expanded playoffs, a team like OM can have a special season every so often and get in the mix just like one of the "bluebloods" of CFB. All it takes is the right team getting hot at the right time, and a miracle championship (or even appearance in the championship game) can happen.
The expanded playoffs will allow teams like Ole Miss to finally have their shot at proving themselves when those rare seasons that all the pieces come together come along. In the old format, all it takes is 1 loss for a team lacking playoff history like OM to be knocked out. Now they have a legit shot even if they slip up once, like most teams do
