1991 LSU vs. Florida State in Death Valley.
FSU was the number one team and LSU held their own in the 1st half. David Duke made a cameo appearance in the student section and after that, a torrential downpour started in the either late 1st half or 2nd half.

One game that I remember from the 80's was number one Auburn traveling to Tennessee in '85 (Bo Jackson's senior season). Players were sliding all over the field and Auburn lost the game.

Top 5 rainiest games I've been to:
1) At Mizz in 2012
2) 2001 Southern Miss at Legion Field
3) 2015 at UGA
4) USF in Tampa in 2023
5) 2000 Iron Bowl

2015 LSU in Tuscaloosa was crazy too but the rain stopped before the game

Weather was beautiful that day. You are thinking of 1989.

82 IRON BOWL

I sat in the upper deck and during the game a tornado went through Birmingham..

The game never stopped and Auburn ended a 10 year drought against Bama in a rain storm

Never rained during this game. 1983 was the tornado game.

was in Tampa at the Hall-of-Fame Bowl in Jan ‘95 and I watched Penn State beat the crap out of Auburn in a driving rain storm. Stephen Davis broke his leg on about the 3rd play of the game and that was all we had. We were cooked after that.

That was Jan. 1st l, 1996 - and that was the first rebranded Outback Bowl

Nope. I just verified on online. No. 1 Auburn traveled to Knoxville in 1985 and lost to Tennessee 20-38.

This one crossed my mind too! I was there. I remember there being a lightning delay at one point while we all got soaked.
