Several hundred players have been declared ineligible for various reasons by the NCAA and then gotten a TRO or preliminary injunction prohibiting the NCAA from enforcing their ineligibility. All but two have ended up being put on a roster.
Now, you may reasonably argue those two players should not have gotten TROs because they don't fit into the same bucket as the rest. However, the NCAA has had three chances in court to demonstrate that and haven't been able to do so.
So those two players are being treated differently for one reason: The SEC created a rule AFTER they got their TRO and then threatened to expel LSU from the SEC for the mere rostering of them. They sued in federal court to try to establish their right to prevent LSU from trying to claim damages if such an expulsion happened, going so far as including the Louisiana AG as a defendant essentially for submitting an Amicus Brief supporting those two in response to the SEC sticking their nose into the case.
Really, all the SEC had to do is to write the rule they ended up with during the May spring meeting and apply it to every player who did NFL OTAs. That's it. This would have prevented any of the feelings from LSU fans that we are being targeted by the SEC. The players may not have sued the NCAA at all if their only choice would been teams from the SWAC or SunBelt. And, after the Charles Bediako affair, they should have seen this coming.
You either follow all TROs or you open yourself to accusations of bias and hypocrisy. You also might find yourself having to defend yourself in court.

Nah. I gave no fricks about Trinidad getting another year. Knew he was good, but not that good. He’s no Jayden, but his poise gave us fits before we adjusted. Regardless of how we schemed against him the first half, you gotta tip your cap to his play, as well as their D line. I wish we had adjusted sooner, but they made the plays to win the game.
