So you're saying those seven teams are your rivals? Who are they if I may ask?

Traditionally, our arch-rivals (chief rivals) are: Georgia Tech, Auburn and Florida within the SEC, Clemson outside the SEC.

For the past 30 years, Tennessee and South Carolina have joined our arch-rivals club...before SCar joined the SEC, the Gamecocks were long-time rivals, although UGA greatly (and I mean greatly) dominated them. The rivalry has heated up since they've joined the conference.

UGA-Clemson is a rivalry that we also heavily dominated (and still do!!). Trust me, Clemson may not fear Alabama, but you can darn right count on it that Clemson is always fearful of facing the Dawgs---and it doesn't matter how good Clemson is.

WE OWN CLEMSON (although, we wouldn't mind auctioning them off to the highest bidder, sometimes --- interested, Alabama?).

We don't fear the Dawgs but we respect them. Although we hate the dirt peckers, UGa is the measuring stick in our little triangle and it's a game I always look forward to playing.

You do own us. The record speaks for itself. That another reason to want to play them. It makes no sense to only be 75 miles apart and rarely play.

I would be completely fine playing UGA in the first first games of each season and finish the season beating the dirt peckers. The way the CFP is set up now, an early loss to a major program is not a death sentence unless it's a blow out and even that is not always true. When they go to an 8 team playoff eventually this game needs to happen again.

There are 7 other sets of SEC venues that are closer than UT/Vandy. That just seems wild.

Clemson’s home sports radio station WCCP has always had a ton of Georgia fans listen and call to talk football or trash.

Always wondered about pre-expansion scheduling. Why/how did this happen?

Yea, was about to say, Alabama and Georgia are in no way rivals. Competing for the same goal at a high level, sharing a long state border, lots of mingling alums in Atlanta, etc? Yes. But definitely not rivals in the traditional sense.

While this is absolutely true today, and I know you know this, but I think this is a little incomplete without mentioning that they used to be major rivals and in fact are mentioned by name in Bama’s fight song. But no, they are not rivals today...nor is Georgia Tech.

Yep,pretty much played every year til '65 I believe.

Both schools voted to discontinue playing annually because of the Saturday Evening Post "controvercy"

Yes,it was kinda stupid considering the story was BS.

Yep - but even then we were much more just teams that played each year than true rivals (at least from my knowledge of the 20-50s) (in general, though the whole Wally Butts/Bryant/SEP thing was spicy). Tech and Tennessee were really considered true rivals (and then Auburn once they re-emerged).

By the crow flight....

Clemson to Athens 59 miles
Clemson to Columbia SC 113 miles
Clemson to Knoxville 107 miles

Clemson is the closest division 1 foe to all 3 of these SEC schools.
Clemson is a few miles closer than Atlanta to Athens.
Athens is the closest division 1 foe to Clemson, Knoxville is next closest.

Hell,I think Butts and Bryant got along pretty well and both won their libel suits vs the Post.

Butts always said it paid for his retirement and 600k was a TON of money in the early 60's.I believe Bryant settled for less.

So I basically got it right with the exception of Kentucky.

Yet some of you UGA fans continue to dickride your little series with the sheep humping sister bangers in the 80s.

Gotcha

lulz

Y'all should join the ACC and be happy.

Oh yea - definitely - the spiciness wasn't really between UGA and Alabama, but both were involved and it was a huge deal.

Clemson - Georgia was mustseetv in the early 80's. They didn't have as many games on back then kids, but you would make time for that one. Just had to get to the dove field early.

As a Dawg fan living close to numerous Clemson fans, I want nothing more than to play Clemson this year.
I know Bama is a monkey on our back, but I'd rather shut up the cocky Clemson fans that don't know how to handle their recent success.
