I agree; fall weddings are just a minefield. My family is pretty divided between LSU and some other directional La. schools (not to mention some A&M, State, Arkansas, and AU fans/alums) so it's always tough. If one has a bye, no one else does.

I hate Friday night weddings, but if you insist on a fall wedding, it better be on a Friday night so my Saturday is open.

One of my besties is engaged, and they chose their engagement party date around ULL's schedule (he's a big fan). He called me this week sincerely apologizing that it falls on Nov. 03 (the LSU Bama *home* game for LSU).

I hung up on his arse.

It’s selfish and rude. Even my friend who became a hipster and married another hipster and lives in east Atlanta and doesn’t give two fks about football had his wedding on Georgia’s bye week.
My sister and her husband both uga alums had their wedding on bye week a few years ago but then this year had my nephews birthday party on week 1 Saturday which coincided with dove opener and then yelled at me for turning on the game in her house.

My daughter is getting married Oct. 20. Just grin and bare. That is why I record and tell people not to tell me the score. And stay away from social media until I watch it. It is just as exciting.

Anybody who schedules a wedding on an SEC football saturday is an a-hole. I told our son that if he did it in conflict with an AU football game, I wasnt going to be there. He knew I meant it. Have the wedding in August or some other time. I wont attend weddings on football saturdays if AU is playing. I dont give a damn who it is.

Would y’all say it’s selfish to plan a wedding on a fall Saturday knowing it’s an SEC game?

Not necessarily, considering its' the B&G's day and they can do it however they want. However, they shoudl also fully understand not everyone will attend.

I'll tell ya what has increasingly bugged me over the years, is the people who think they are somehow bound by an unseen spiritual force to mandatorily attend said weddings. You're an adult..if you dont' wanna go then don't go. If it was like your brother or something I could understand the hesitation, but a friend? You'll still be friends whether you attend or not, if you aren't then yall had problems anyway. And lemme tell you the B&G are going to be going 1000 miles an hour mentally that day, in 2 weeks they aren't gonna remember who they talked to, took pics with, or who gave them what.

If you wanna go to the football game, go to the football game and not think twice.

So for Kentucky fans does this not apply?

But they hold this idea during basketball season?

I don't go to weddings (unless they're morning weddings) on Saturdays during football season.

So I got married on iron bowl Saturday 3 years ago. I told my fiancee when her family was trying to book the venue that any Saturday in November besides that one...well they had 2 open dates at the venue and her uncle ( which was a condition that we wouldn't get married without him present.. They are very close) would only be able to come on iron bowl Saturday. Her family is from California and later moved to Alabama but never understood how serious we take our college football her. I told them ok but I can't guarantee everyone will show up. We decided to host a iron bowl viewing party after the reception in the venue on a110" projector so everybody just turned their phones off... We got married at 4, danced and partied until 9 then watched the iron bowl with about 75 people mostly Auburn but several banners. It was amazing. Her family got to truly see how prideful we are in the South. With all that said it went well but I don't recommend anyone else song it unless you can do like we did. Also... Part of our compromise was that any year that out anniversary falls on iron bowl Saturday or same weekend for that matter.... Which is almost every year.... We would celebrate our anniversary the weekend after.... So far so good working in year 4 this November..... Overall I wouldn't change a thing it was a blast to have 75 fans watching a game after to tie to the end if what was the best day of my life.....WDE

You are the a-hole. If I were him, I'd schedule it on Iron Bowl weekend to spite you.

Option A:

Watch someone likely ruin their life or worse yet personally sign off to a life of bickering and no sex with a financial disaster end game

-or-

Option B:

Tailgate & attend a pagentry of assomeness known as college football

I’m torn

I have one this year on the day of the LSU/Moo State game. Bride went to Tulane so doesn’t gaf. Husband only sort of cares about sports, I have him shite about it and he got pretty defensive. I’m going to bite the bullet and go. If it were Bama or UGA that would be a harder call.

That sounds like the typical die hard ULLLL douche bag. I’d do the same thing.
