Nope. None of y’all agreed to that when State did it in 2014. LSU doesn’t get that same benefit either. It’s where they finish.

You are what your record says you are. Miami is not a top 10 team and LSU beating them is not a top 10 win. I accepted this when we beat a “top 10” LSU team in 2014 that ended up going 8-4.

No cause preseason rankings are dumb and half those teams end up fighting for a bowl game. I mean you could beat #12 week one and they wind up 5-7... Was that win really over #12 then? i.e. Bama and Fl state last year is a good example

Let me change that scenario for you.

If your team beats an unranked team and then they win the rest of their games and finishes in the top 3, you claiming a win over an unranked team still?

This is pointless. After LSU beats UGA at home, the SECr will say that Georgia was overrated too. It's what this place does.

Disagree. All MSU fans ever hear is that it only matters where they finish. Every win over a ranked team we've gotten in the last 10 years has been diminished by tRant b/c the second MSU beats someone, they drop from the rankings. Remember when we beat 3 top ten teams in a row in 2014?

Nobody is saying anyone is overrated. Right now LSU has wins over #9 and #21. That's really good.

If LSU beat Georgia then Georgia would still probably be ranked in the Top 10.

You get the benefits of beating a ranked team by moving up in the following polls. It's fluid, not an "add them all up at the end" kind of formula

I understand what you’re saying. Teams get better and worse throughout the year, but it means you’re thinking way too hard. If you have to do that kind of mental gymnastics to figure out if you have a good win then you’re probably not that good to begin with.

Yea - the only thing that should come into play with that sort of thing is a major injury or something (and no, I don't mean like Francois with FSU last year, as that probably took them from 9-4 to 7-6, not a huge difference).

But as CNB said, nobody ever wants to also do it the other way. What if you beat a team early that gets really good in the 2nd half of the year. For instance, LSU beat Auburn in 2013, but nobody would argue Auburn was the same team in November as they were in September.

Meh, it depends. Sometimes, especially early in the season, rankings are total bullshite. If you beat a team in week 1 that is ranked in the top ten, but that team finishes the season 0-12, you probably shouldn't get credit for beating a ranked team.

Regardless of where you finish.

Example: When Alabama motorboats A&Ms tits Saturday and drips them out of the top 25, that's still a ranked win.

This all goes back to the same argument that is made by the clowns that criticize Alabama's strength of schedule. To determine SoS before the season's over is ridiculous because nobody knows how teams are gonna play BEFORE they play, AND what a team's actual schedule is until the bowl games and playoffs are done.

Wut? You post here every day. I know that you saw all of the Miami sucks and Auburn is overrated threads. Just because you aren't taking part in it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Ok, let me rephrase, nobody who isn't (a) a dumbass or (b) trolling is saying that.

Fair enough. That's like 80% of the SECr though.

That seems like a low estimate

It does, but I think the dumbest are the loudest here and make it seem like there are more trolls/idiots than there really are. It's the same way next door.
