Virtually none. It is in the state name. We are a state, have a bicameral legislature and a governor. Kind of a carry over from being part of Virginia.

Let's don't get too carried away here---it's
just an old English term, retained from when
all were British colonial possessions. Thing
about Kentucky is, when the term officially applied,
it was part of Virginia and never really
was a separate Commonwealth state.
