The fanbase revolts and the AD and school go into damage control and say yeah no and hire someone else?

No that's absolutely not what everyone has been comparing this to for the last 48 hours.

The Facebook-preauthorize-our-hire eliminates the need for an AD.

Just make your AD department an Internet focus group and let them hire-fire on the cheap.

No need to pay both. I think they float these ideas out there to see how their fanbase will respond. The vocal portion wins and sometimes they are not right.

No...because Stoops is actually a good coach.

I think Schiano is a good coach. He has done very well for Rutgers. I also think he would have done well at Tennessee.

Wasn't the UT thing lead by Clay Travis?

Yes

What happened in the Schiano situation was a disgrace

A few similarities, but some big differences. It seems that while the AD had settled on Stoops as his first choice, he knew that he still had to run it by the board of regents, and that this was not merely a rubber stamp. The regents heard from their friends and the money folks that they didn't see how Stoops fit the criteria that Bjork had laid out, and that his history of anemic offenses was too similar too Jimbo's results, and they told Ross to go to Plan B. What Stoops thought, or told people on the Kentucky side, I don't know.

UT letting Clay Travis choose their coach and ending up with Jeremy Pruitt will always be funny.

Since returning to Rutgers in 2020, he is 18-26. I don't know if I would call winning 41% of your games doing "very well"...but I guess to each his own.

AD Bjork failing to get the Board of Regents sign off prior to negotiating Stoops is what killed that deal.

Not a response to the average fan. Rather, a backroom dick-measuring contest between the Dallas click and the Houston click like every other A&M sports mess.
