Trent Johnson was worse than Ray. I mean recruiting sucked, his brand of basketball sucked, won-loss record sucked. Even the home grown talent was running to get out of the state when Trent was head coach.

Ray wasn't really given a chance. His situation was a lot like Orgeron's when he got here.

Program in the dumpster with absolutely no support to improve it.

Trent Johnson won the SEC

Your argument is null and void.

Rick Ray won 37 games in 3 years. Kentucky will win that many or more this season.

Very good comparison. But like Coach O, Ray couldn't win and that ultimately cost him his job.

If you're talking about previous resume when hired then Ray is the easy answer. Trent Johnson and Barbee at least had some success at previous schools.

He is gone. He is a nice guy. Why rag on him or Striklin about this? Stansbury left us in a situation where we couldn't possibly get a good hire. Argue all you want about whether we should have "retired" Stansbury, but some times you have to cut off the arm to save the body. It's done, let's get over it and move on. Hopefully, we can get someone that can get us to a respectable level and inject some interest back into the program in Starkville.

I'll give Ray a little credit though. MSu looked much improved this year than last. But that's most likely due to having more than 6 players on scholarship.

Was the worst hire for UK, but he wouldn't have been that bad of hire for most SEC schools. He did at least have experience and success at ATM.

Heath was a terrible hire. He was only hired for one reason and one reason only.

Pelphry was a good hire considering the time.

Rod Barnes was a bad hire because they just gave it to an Evans assistant.

Mizzou hiring Kim Anderson over Ben Howland, Brad Underwood and Chris Mack - three guys who would have taken the Mizzou job last year - has a very good chance ending up as the worst hire.

KA was never a candidate at Missouri State or UMKC.

Yes.. Ray was the worst basketball hire in SEC history... Not only did he never win games, he got caught on camera yelling "frick you!" at Marshall Henderson...
