Geez. If they have a football team at this school, they should go ahead and hire Jerry Sandusky.
Seeing how so many people in Kansas City are excited about this, I'll say Kansas fans.

Wisconsin's win tonight was the biggest of the year for Jayhawks' fans.

As much as this sucks, if it means Mizzou hits rock bottom sooner rather than later, it might not be too bad. Two completely horrible years is better than one, long burnout over four or five years.
Our guys will eat dinner properly, though.
The most shocking loss was Norfolk State, but Mizzou had a few injuries in that game and didn't have the inside presence to win a title that year, so that's not my choice.

My choice is the 2002 Elite Eight loss to Oklahoma. That tournament was the only time in my lifetime I believed Mizzou could at least have a legitimate shot at winning the national title. If they get by OU, they get a very beatable Indiana team in the Final Four and get either Maryland/KU in the final. That was a great KU team and Mizzou played them very tight three weeks before in Columbia. Just having a shot at playing for the title would have been great.

The game itself was frustrating. Clarence Gibert, playing with an injury, made just one FG. The team missed over half its free throws and yet, they lost by just six points. Everything went wrong but they still lost by only 6.

If Quin gets to a Final Four in year three, who knows what kind of domino effect that has in recruiting and momentum. Perhaps he doesn't gamble on Rickey Clemons. I think Quin was a good coach who made a few mistakes. If they win that game, you never know. Perhaps he is still there.
I don't see Marshall leaving Wichita State unless it's for a true blue-blood type of job like an Indiana, North Carolina or Kentucky.

He's proven Wichita State can make a Final Four and have a ton of success. He's starting to make significant in-roads in recruiting. Wichita State is a much bigger name in the Kansas City metro area compared to two or three years ago --- and he's gotten some metro kids. Some of those KCMO/JOCO kids can help keep his program stacked for a while in terms of winning the MVC.

Add in Charles Koch being a big-time donor and I'm not sure he'll leave Wichita until it's for a special job.
Mizzou hiring Kim Anderson over Ben Howland, Brad Underwood and Chris Mack - three guys who would have taken the Mizzou job last year - has a very good chance ending up as the worst hire.

KA was never a candidate at Missouri State or UMKC.

I love the work the KA team puts into this.

Yup....and my favorite part is some of them were probably the same ones who tore apart Mike Anderson after losing a second-round game to West Virginia. Or Quin Snyder for finishing 5th in the Big 12 when it truly was a great conference.

I was not a Quin fan by any means, but some people are bigger Norm Stewart fans than Mizzou basketball fans.
And for what it's worth, I think the 2011 KU team was the biggest missed opportunity. In the way of a second national title was VCU, Butler and the winner of the UCONN/Kentucky game. I think KU on paper was better than all four of those teams.
The only way this is an upset is if you look at the bracket seeding. Wichita State's core of players has had far more tournament experience, including a Final Four and a big time war with Kentucky last year. They weren't going to play scared against Kansas and that's half the battle of playing a blue blood.

As some of the posters have hit on, it depends on what you value as a fan.

Want regular season conference titles and a bunch of regular season wins? I think guys like Self, K (since 2005) and Sean Miller are your guys.

If you value the postseason significantly more than the regular season, I think you go in the direction of Izzo, Donovan and Calipari. Calipari's tournament record is very underrated. Memphis' loss to Missouri in 2009 was probably his worst tournament loss and that still came in the Sweet 16. Plus, Mizzou was pretty salty that year....arguably its best team ever.
"Hate" is a strong word, but I've had dramatic change of opinions on three guys: Tom Brady, Gregg Popovich and Joakim Noah. Noah drove me crazy at Florida, but I love watch him in the NBA for whatever reason. Brady won me over during the course of his career.

Popovich struck me as a Bobby Knight wannabe with his attitude at first, but I've grown to love him and realize why he does what he does. Great coach and it sounds like he's a great guy, too.
Moneyball. I enjoyed the book, but when I heard it was going to become a movie, I thought it would suck badly.

Outside of a few inaccurate things, it turned out to be a great movie and one of my favorite Brad Pitt performances.
Outside of me having Billy Kennedy on my "take over KA" list, I agree 100 percent with reedus. How Grant hasn't been fired yet blows my mind. And I don't like Andy Kennedy personally for the reasons mentioned above.
Kansas had the best player in the country that season, so it's not '88. Great run, but Danny Manning wasn't human in that tournament. You always have a chance with the best player.

My choice is North Carolina State in '83. That Houston team was absolutely loaded.

Villanova had also played Georgetown twice that season and the Big East was like SEC football in the 1980's - loaded and deep with talent. I imagine Nova would have had a better record if it played in a different conference that year.
It's the best in my opinion since the 1992-93 season. The rise of Barkley's Suns were fun to watch. Those Payton/Kemp Seattle teams were getting going as well.

Of course, you had Michael Jordan and the Bulls going for the three-pete. That was Pat Riley's best Knicks team in my opinion. It was Shaquille O'Neal's rookie season and you could tell he was going to be the next big thing.
Seattle won a Super Bowl and Harvin made two nice plays in that, so I will take Richardson.
The Nazis top my list. Their genocide had purpose and they actually believe in a "Master Race" non-sense.

Plus, I'd argue you could put 50 million additional deaths on Hitler shoulders since he was the biggest reason World War II happened. Now, perhaps Stalin starts it later and tries to expand West, but it was Hitler who struck first.

1. Hitler
2. Stalin
3. Mao (idiotic economic policies resulted in a lot of deaths under Mao's watch.)
Another fond memory of this team was when Frank Martin beat Kim Anderson out to the court to check on Wes after he got injured. #TrueSon
Mizzou would have been in trouble in the 1990's and early 2000's in football for sure. Being in the SEC during that time would have helped out in basketball, though. Big 12 was pretty solid from '97-03. Some of those Quin teams early on were pretty good and one even made an Elite Eight.
