I wouldn’t call that 2010 AU Defense shitty. They weren’t a great defense but they were pretty salty when they had to be in the 2nd half of multiple games. A bunch of gamers when the moment called for it.
2010 Auburn did a good job of playing to their style which played to the offense. They were really aggressive and good pass rushers, and so once Cam and Co. took a lead late their took over. They also had some alpha dogs that refused to lose.

The 2017 Auburn D was light years better.
This is a good point too. Our 2017 defense was so much better than our 2010 defense.
I don't think 2010 Bama could score 20 on our 2017 defense. Bama was held to less than 100 yards rushing by our 2010 defense. Bama lit up our 2010 secondary, but everyone did that year. 4 different receivers put up 165 yards or more against our 2010 defense. Bama still only got 27 against us in 2010 (yes they turned it over twice going in for a TD, but they also were gifted a PI call on their 1st TD, a terrible PF call on Fairley gave them TD #2, and they got 3 off of a fumble at our own 29 yard line).
Bama's 2010 D was great though. I would say a 20-17 low scoring game.

You do realize the 2017 Auburn team mauled the bama NC team, right?
The 2010 Bama team would probably beat the 2017 Bama team.

That team sucked. Worst Alabama team of the last 10 years.

That 10 Bama team wasn't healthy until the bowl game. Every star player on that team was injured at some point, the starting OL that year only played in 5 games together.
A completely healthy 10 Bama team would have destroyed a Hurts led 17 Bama team.

The 2010 Alabama team that showed up in the Citrus Bowl was as good as any team we've ever had.
That team only showed up once, and their bad games were extremely mediocre. It's the only season I can really remember us having that high of highs and low of lows with a team. So, the 2010 team on their best day absolutely could have/would have beaten the 2017 team. But the odds of that were not high.
I'll also add that I think the Auburn game was probably one of their 3-4 best performances of the year. The offense was awesome for 1 half and a joke for the 2nd, but the defense played well for 2 halves. Auburn earned the shite out of that 2010 win.

Auburn's 2017 offense would have had a field day against our 2010 defense. That group was good but not great against the run and our secondary was a mess of young guys running around like chickens with their heads cut off. If Auburn was playing at 2017 Alabama game form on offense they score at least 30 against that bunch.

Nah.
Both teams had the talent and potential to do better than they did, but let's examine.
10 bama:
-beat 3 ranked teams (2 in the top 10) in the first 5 weeks of play
-lost a head scratcher on the road to a top 20 SC team that would play in the SECCG.
-lost a tight one on the road to a top 10 LSU
-lost a tight one to national champ auburn
-crushed a top 10 opponent in bowl game
17 Auburn:
-lost a tight one on the road to playoff bound clemson
-lost a tight one on the road to a mediocre orgreon-led LSU
-2 phenomenal home wins over uga and bama
-arse whooping in SECCG to same uga team
-inexplicable loss to inferior team in bowl game
Auburn had 2 fantastic victories but a few awful losses. All of bama's losses were "good" losses and also racked up high quality wins. Both teams finished roughly 10th, but auburn had more losses.

Let's be honest, if it was in Bryant Denny 2010 Alabama wins. If was at Jordan Hare 2017 Auburn wins.

Don't know what you're talking about. I believe our country was under attack and me and my Wolverine buddies were too busy for any football. So that loss you speak of never happened.

Hard to say.
2010 Bama was more talented and had more potential. It was one of the most talented teams Saban has ever had.
But 2010 Bama had some mental issues or something. They never improved as the year went on. Then we saw what they were capable of in the first half of the IB (utter domination of anyone), then in the second half we saw them fold and get destroyed as thoroughly as they dominated the first half.
I would not call either team better than the other.

2010 Bama talent wise, but for whatever reason they didn't really gel as a team. Still had a better record, won their bowl game, and didn't lose to a mid major. I would go with 2017 Auburn in JHS, but 2010 Bama in BDS, or a neutral field.

In the end, we will never know, but that 2010 Alabama team severely underachieved given the talent.

I'm with you all the way until this ^. The loss to SC was as pathetic as our loss to Auburn in 17. Both by double digits but at least 17 Auburn was a very good team. I blame our game plan for the IB loss last year and when your game plan is shite like it was for the NC game, very good teams (like Auburn and Georgia from last year) will kick your arse.
10 SC team was not really that great. Yes, Alshon was a beast receiver but Garcia had a once in a lifetime game (at least for him). Looking back at that full game, we simply played like shite. Very uncharacteristic missed tackling and pass defense for that time.

Stidham >>>>>>>> McElroy
Kerryon> Ingram & Richardson
Overall WR group> Bama's (although Julio is the best overall)
OL = push
AU DL >> UA DL
LB = push
AU DB >> Bama
Carlson >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any bama kicker ever
So yeah, I'd say it isn't even a question.

Ingram and/or Richardson > Kerryon (not even close)
wr Bama> Auburn
OL Bama>Auburn (not even close, how many sacks did Clemson get?)
LB Bama > Auburn (not even close)
db's i don't know anything about Auburn's db's last year I'll yield to you on that
Carlson was good kicker but no better than Van Tiffin or Phillip Doyle
