Was 2017 Auburn better than the 2010 Bama team?

Serious question here. Do you think that last year's edition of Auburn was better than our 10-3 team of 2010?

We had the expectations to start the season and finished miserably (with a huge bowl win though). 2017 Auburn started a little rough but was a very good team towards the end (until first week of December) and then ran out of gas.

Which team was better?

We did lose a game to Leslie that I didn't feel like we should have. I still have resentments for that game.

2017 Auburn was the better team and also won the division, but 2017 Auburn also would've probably lost the 2010 Capital One bowl due to Malzahn checking out following the conclusion of the regular season.

To me, Auburn is good at getting up for one or two teams every year and winning in inexplicable fashion. Then claiming how great of a team they were.

So yes, they are taking over LSU's spot from a years back. But they're just doing it in more dramatic fashion (minus the toss dive).

Any reasons for this conclusion other than pure fandom?

Well if the game were at Jordan Hare then probably, but if not then the 2010 Bama team is better.

Both teams had holes.

I think it would be extremely hard for the bama O to be productive against the 2017 Auburn D.

For that reason, I take Auburn for the W.

A healthy 2010 Alabama is better than 2017 Auburn.

AU had key injuries in the SECCG that fricked us up in that game. If KJ is healthy, that game turns out the same way the first UGA game did. probably closer score.

Why?

Bama had the 22nd ranked total offense and 18th ranked scoring offense. They weren’t bad. And if Bama played like they did against MSU in the bowl game, they would definitely win.

A shitty, I mean absolutely shitty, 2010 Auburn D dominated bama in the second half that year. The 2017 Auburn D was light years better.

I wouldn’t call that 2010 AU Defense shitty. They weren’t a great defense but they were pretty salty when they had to be in the 2nd half of multiple games. A bunch of gamers when the moment called for it.

The run D was pretty stout, but the pass D was atrocious. That D made every QB look like a Heisman candidate.

ETA You are right about the second half of games. In most games, the second half D looked the exact opposite of the first half D..........but you could still throw all over us that year.

Mariotta (sp) threw for 374 yards in the NC game.

If both teams were completely healthy and played on a neutral field, the 2010 Bama team would have mauled the 17 Auburn team.

42-14 or something like that

Hard to say.

2010 Bama was more talented and had more potential. It was one of the most talented teams Saban has ever had.

But 2010 Bama had some mental issues or something. They never improved as the year went on. Then we saw what they were capable of in the first half of the IB (utter domination of anyone), then in the second half we saw them fold and get destroyed as thoroughly as they dominated the first half.

I would not call either team better than the other.

You do realize the 2017 Auburn team mauled the bama NC team, right?

That Bama team never played at full strength until the bowl game, and I honestly thought Kirk Cousins might die. But there's more to it than talent, obviously.
