He looked really good today. I knew he had a strong arm but he's more mobile than I anticipated.

Yeah, Walker Howard looked like the 2nd string QB. Not that Dart looked bad but he didn't look better than he was last season. Spencer Sanders and Howard looked better than Dart. Howard will get playing time this season and I think by mid-season he will be the second string QB if not sooner than that.

why did he leave again

Because LSU is loaded at QB and it would be unlikely he would see meaningful action this year there, or even next year. And the little time last season that he played, he looked really bad

Ha, I got no skin in this game but what exactly is he doing now if not competing?

Spring games are meaningless exposure for fans. The 2 weeks of practice reports before the game are what matter at this point.

Walker Howard looked like a guy who wasn't getting playing time at LSU when he got in the games and who hadn't adjusted to the speed of the game. It's not like the kid all of a sudden wasn't talented enough to be an SEC QB. But, I know SEC fanbases though. They don't want to call out their head coach who possibly made a mistake. Before Walker Howard left LSU he was regarded as one of the best QB prospects to come out of Louisiana in recent memory. That's a fact. And, I don't think Nussmeier or Daniels are more talented than Howard. I think they are more experienced college QBs than Howard.

Yes, he was; and I'd say we thought so until he saw the field a couple times

I'm going to disagree a little there.

He was young and raw, but not any moreso than Nussmeier the year before. Nuss showed his arm off then, and intrigued people.

I didn't see anything from Howard last season that made me say "ooh, this kid is full of potential".

Kiffin has done well with smaller QBs with strong arms who were mobile but not necessarily scramblers or dual-threat (Blake Sims, Matt Corral).
